It can only get better from here. WOS Santana's Winning.
-
Oh no, a top of the hour snoozer. WOS for Santana's "Yawning".

indeed -- I never hated this one, as I like Russ Ballard (would love his original in a '77 set), but it's a Moreytrina of the first order. Feels like we just did '81 but it's been 6 weeks.
Hold on tight to your 'trinas! accochez-toi, or something.
-
WOS1 "Whining." WOS2 "Hold on Tight." Things can only get better.

i agree... When I hear French now I think of Haiti, which makes the refrain both poignant and cutting
-
Better, but only slightly. Is it just me, or has ELO been appearing in a LOT of 10@10s lately--across the board, not just KFOG?

yes, absolutely.*
I was hoping for Vangelis after that film clip -- "Chariots of Fire" would've been infinitely preferable to Moodies-past-their-prime.
* - ETA: it's ELO's 4th or 5th appearance in the past week
-
His mind is not for rent, and Mike will give him a WOS.
-
WOS3 to Rush. This is making a case for Worst Set Ever.

It must be me--at least as far as KFOG is concerned. That was the first ELO song we've heard from AL in 2010. She's played the Moodies more. However, I think the various other 10@10s we track here have been hitting them hard.

Well, I'll give "Tom Sawyer" a BOS to balance it out. I still love Moving Pictures. But I have to play it when my wife is out of the house, 'cause she can't stand Geddy Lee's voice.
-

See I bet Tinka & PoC & I (ETA: and Dave) would all say the set was redeemed a bit by "Tom Sawyer", but for some of you guys it just bottomed out.
-
BOS Rush, of course.

agreed, to the nth power.
-
BOS Andy Kaufman. And another snoozer, musically -- Tooobsnesia.
-
okay, this really is turning into an Aaaack-fest.
What have we done to deserve this?
-

WOS4 to the Tubes under the influence of David Foster, who's no stranger to ruining bands.
-

Like in this set deserves to be terminated?

AL's gotten into our heads and created a set of all the Dave Morey 1981 WOS's!
-
Still waiting for things to get appreciably better. This Tubes song was another Davefave from '81, but it's not doing a lot for me today. Even if the former occupant of Tinka's flat wrote the damn thing.
-
Give it up! Wot? Don't stop, give it all you got!
-
Has DM secretly returned to KFOG to program 10@10? Better watch out, AL--he could pull a Leno on ya!
BOS (for lack of any alternatives) to the Clash, Mag7.
-
The Clash finally stop this train wreck. BOS unless Annalisa flummoxes us all with some Gap Band or Commodores to close.

JEEEZUS! another Moreytrina, "Mag 7" -- she had a chance to *finally* play something diff from Sandinista!, but... no. Damn.
this set is too fuckin' long, innit?
-
Clash sounds good!
Cheeseboigah...
Italian mobster shoots a lobster...
now I'm hungry.
-

or a little Rick James
give it to us baby!
-
BOS2 Rick James -- but thank the LAWD it's "Give it To Me baby" instead of "Super Freak".
-
Buffalo's own Rick James !
Give it to me, baby... that sweet funky stuff.
I think he's asking his lady to hand him that jar of Jerri Curl...
-
hey, I'm recording this set ... in case any wants a copy of it just so they can delete it with extreme prejudice..! :)
-
Dukes of H -- *that's* entertainment! BOS3 The Jam.
-
Finally, a song I can vote for BOS without reservation: That's Entertainment. BOS The Jam.
Have we had any bustouts this set? I don't have my copy of the shraytabase as I'm using my wife's computer while mine is in the hospital.
-

Here's yer bustout -- Psychedelic Furs rocking the joint! I don't think I've ever heard this before.
-
LOL...Annalisa's being Annalisa. 5 WOS's followed by 4 BOS's. She's made me a fan of 1981 before but for awhile I was thinking this year was going to start sucking again. (Uber-BOS to the Psychedelic Furs!! Oddly enough, I listened to this @ the Stonestown Borders listening display list night.)
-

I can''t remember the last time I only liked 3 songs out of 10 -- even those bad '90s sets AL has occasionally done weren't this painful.
BOS4 PsyFurs -- a bustout?
-
That's Entertainment almost brings me to tears sometimes... Love it.
Paul Weller has such a great voice.
-
another BOS to the P-Furs
hey Shray, you knew some musician that worked w the Butlers, what did he say of them again?
-

No sooner said than done: BOS to the Psych Furballs, Mr. Jones from their sophomore effort.
-
Holy Flaming Mother of Punk! uber-BOS5 Joan Jett -- her first LP, Bad Reputation, is a lost gem.
well, we ended up with 4/10 of a good set.
2 Moreytrinas tie for BOS -- just when Fogheads were beginning to impress me with their taste, they backslide.
-
BOS to JJ's "Bad Reputation."
I'm surprised the Runaways never reunited.
-
Thinking we've heard JJett's Bad Rep before, but BOS nonetheless. AL turned this set around 180 degrees.
-
wow, Joan Jett gets another HM...
BTW, this is used as the opening credits theme to the TV show Freaks and Geeks. they made 18 eps, only aired 12, but it is FANTASTIC!~
pretty much started the careers of Judd Apatpow, Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jason Segal

Yeah, she played this in 1981 before but BOS5.
5 WOS's followed by 5 BOS's. :o

I'll give a BOS for "Freaks and Geeks". That show is awesome. I missed it on TV, but it's way better on DVD anyway.

I'm certain that the old Morey Morning Show used this as a soundbite intro for one of their frequent guests, but I'm blanking on who. Maybe that Charles/Miss Manners guy?

they used the "Charles in Charge" theme for him, har har. And he (aka "Social Grace") apparently fell of the face of the earth -- Greg complained last year that his email stopped working and nobody knew where he'd gone.

I didn't listen much while I was out, but I remember hearing him the first time he came on during Webster's tenure, sometime late spring/early summer. No idea if he's been on since.
He almost always showed up on a Friday around 8:30, so if you check KFOG.com in the early part of the week you can see if he's expected.
