Based on recent days, I'm guessing mid-'90s.

I fear you may be right, 'specially since I think we're getting an Elvis set tomorrow.

Annie Lennox's "Little Bird" tells me '92.

a Moreytrina, iirc. No dis to Annie, but I hope this '92 set is half as good as '87 was Tuesday. "Diamonds & Pearls", perhaps?
-
I thought "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" was fresh when it came out. Then "Two Princes" stayed in radio rotation for two years and I came to despise the guy's voice and the empty-sounding drums that defined too much early-'90s alt-rock.
-
I don't hate the Spin Doctors as some do, but "Little Miss..." was fairly standard KFOG stuff in '92.
-
Radicaldigits is very happy.
How many years of mystery has AL done? There was 1997...and I think there was a 1985-ish set too.
-
Off topic, but did anyone else just feel an earthquake? :o

VHM for me -- really liked this when it came out, but, as you say, they susbsequently became over-played and didn't hold up well in repitition.
-
Yes! BOS to XTC, "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead," one of the best singles of the decade.
Getting some server slowness today, alas, for the first time in a couple weeks.
-
Off topic, but did anyone else just feel an earthquake? :o
YES! in downtown Oakland we felt a big jolt. Not one of those rolling, lingering ones.
VHM XTC, tho' "Peter Punpkinhead" is not exactly a bustout either.
-
Off topic, but did anyone else just feel an earthquake? :o
Yep. pretty mild over here in the Tri-valleys.
-
BOS XTC, so far the only one today.

Oh wow. How long does it take to find out what it registered? I never felt more than a 4.0 while living in SF.

Wow! Bob Mould.
-
BOS2 to Sugar's "Helpless." Bustout?

BOSFRA from me.

I was gonna say almost the same thing. I was excited about the Spin Doctors and bought their album. But that guy is just a crummy singer. "Two Princes" just sucks.
-
BOS2 to Sugar's "Helpless." Bustout?
ATBB I'm sure, unless The Peak played it. No Sugar in the Db, tonight or ortherwise. ;)
-
BOS2 to Sugar's "Helpless." Bustout?
That's the band name I was trying to remember. :)
-
another BOSFRA to Lou Reed -- don't remember hearing this at all in '92.

(Going to listen to Homebelly Groove in hiding.)

Gosh, of all the songs to play from the Singles soundtrack...
What's BOSFRA?
-
What idiot would think this was 1986? Fogheads drool.

I was in Taiwan, so I never heard Two Princes on the radio, only on MTV Japan on cable. I liked the video because the protaganist was bassist Mark White & it was in the style of a silent movie with dialog cards, one of which read: "Mark makes his move."
But then I got kind of tired of it too.
-
How could anyone hear Rodney King and think it was 1986?
-
What's BOSFRA?
BOS For Rarity Alone. BOS3 "Dylsexic Haert"
-

BOS #3 Chrissie on guest vox.
-
HM "State of Independence." Nicely diverse set, though it could really use some New Jack Swing.
-
OK, now I'm convinced: that voice guy who just said "What. Year. Is it?" is Jason Jones from the Daily Show

BOS4 Chrissie & MoodSwings. Fabulous.

I did not feel it in Downtown SF...
-
1986...rofl.
BOS's to Sugar and Lou Reed.
VHM to Moodswings.
I hope she plays that Thomas Dolby song.

maybe this is the day we finally get "Baby Got Back"...
-
Ack! The annoying highway song! Who approved that repetitive guitar intro?
-
yeesh, I was just looking at Top40 db to see what the hits were and I thought "Christ, I hope she doesn't play 'Life is a Highway'..."
-
another BOS for "Life Is A Highway", a real sledgehammer for me. But I expect a couple of WOS votes from the gang.

I would have liked that.
When Chris Cornell's post-Soundgarden band Audioslave debuted with a song called "I Am the Highway," some wag retorted, "And Tom Cochrane's gonna ride him all night long."

There's a visual I didn't need.

I would have actually enjoyed "This Used to Be My Playground" after that LOOO clip. Instead, WOS to "Pretend We're Dead."
-
When we pretend that we're BOS5!
-
F*ckin' A!
uber BOS for L7
-

Don't you mean LOTO? :)

they're always showing it on LOGO.

This was a Davefave & bonafide Katrina, but I still like it. But one morning a couple years ago, some Foghead mom called in and put her kid on the phone to request LIAH, and Dave enthusiastically played Tom Cochrane.
I called in a few minutes later & said, "Hey Dave, I'll bet you $20 that kid has never heard Tom Cochrane. She almost certainly is only familiar with the cover version from the Cars soundtrack." Dave was not only unaware of the existence of the cover because he hadn't seen the movie, he'd also never heard of Rascal Flatts. (which is probably a blessing for him)
-
Now we're rocking!

Oops, I was thinking the title was A League of OUR Own.
WOS2 to "Evenflow," when I thought Pearl Jam was a lame Nirvana knockoff. Thank the heavens I was wrong. I still don't care for most of the Ten album, though.
-
Now we're rocking!
Remember when Johnny Steele was the morning guy at Live105 (post-Alex Bennett) and they used "Evenflow" as the theme to a sitcom parody called Eve and Flo?
-

One of the best debut albums ever.

Woohoo! Milpitas makes the news!

instead we got 87 Pearl Jam knockoffs -- Eddie Vedder, you have much to answer for.

Hmm...everything by Pearl Jam irritates me (except for Last Kiss, due to being so bad that it's good). But out of all real Pearl Jam songs, Evenflow annoys me the least. So not quite WOS...but I'll DM it (DM = dis-HM).

I like it! somebody add DM to the glossary! It's not unlike a Guilty Displeasure.

I think it's not like a Guilty Displeasure, more like a slightly stronger 'meh' (which seems to have fallen out of common usage lately in any case).
-
Bonus track is a nice one: The Sunday's Love.
btw, the simple "KFOG" station ID inserted right afterward was in Dave Morey's voice.
-

yes, I hear that quite often -- unmistakably Dave. So does he get paid for that? ;)

no, but if you backwards mask it, he says "screw you, corporate radio!" :)

I don't know -- if I see DM, I'm going to automatically associate it with Dave Morey. Probably should go with DHM...

7. The Mood Swings - State of Independence
Just for the record, I'd edit this to "Moodswings" instead of "The Mood Swings." Besides accuracy, for the sake of the database!
