So sez Webster. I'm predicting '72. Or maybe '71.
Btw, just struck me that this Saturday it will be one year since Dave retired. Man, talk about flying by.
ETA: So much for the crystal ball. '78 today. Davefave Johnny Strikes Up the Band leading off.

oops, we're striking up the band in '78.
(dude, we did '71 last week!)
-
BOS Zevon; VHM Carly.
-
HM to Carly Simon, getting stalkery.
-
And so right to the bustouts. Pretty sure this is an ATBB. Def. a KFOG bustout.
BOS1, the former Mrs. Taylor. You Belong To Me.
-
I know Thunder Island is a Katrina, but I love it.. BOS!

AL played the Doobs version recently, then -- 'cause it's sounding familiar.
AAAAAAAAACK!!! "Thunder Island"! Oh. No. You. DIH-unt!
-
That whiny little bitch Jamie's still crying. Started two hours ago in Chicago, still at it now.
-
Teenage Kicks all through the night!
BOS2 to the Undertones...
-
VHM VH; uber-BOS2 to "Teenage Kicks", making its 2nd (3rd?) appearance in the AL era.
-
OK, I think this is the third time that Teenage Kicks has appeared in the Annalisa era. And I don't effing care. One of the greatest proto-punk songs ever. BOS Undertones.
-
BOS3 Broooooooooce, in Patti Smith's room.
-
HM2 to "Candy's Room," Bruce at his most erotic.
-
Really finding myself digging this set... :o
BOS's to The Undertones and Bruce! And VHM to Carly.
-
OMFG! Cheap Trick. BOS4. Top o' the world, ma!
-
On Top of the World, nice. Another BOS for Cheap Trick, a band Dave all but ignored.
-

We're both right. Second time in an original set, but its first appearance (from last July) did duty as a classic in October when AL was off gettin' hitched.
-
BOS5 T-Heads.
-
Hitting some of the higher points of '78, between Undertones, Cheap Trick, VH, and now Talking Heads. BOS4, Artists Only.
You can't see it 'til it's finished.
-
heard the whole set so far, but trouble getting the computer cranked up caused me to miss a few posts.
I feel like I'm on top of the world getting teenage kicks in Candy's room.
-
...Gay Freedom parade in SF...more news later...Sylvester
nice.
-
Gay Freedom, indeed! BOS6 the FABULOUS Sylvester!
-
BOS# Cheap Trick, awesome -- AWESOME! -- rock band!!!!

-
Miiiii-high-ty BOS to Sylvester!
-
VHM to the Talking Heads! I didn't even realize it was them :-X
And Sylvester can get a BOS too.
-
where did Jessica Savitch get that pattern of inflection?
From the bottle of brandy under her desk?
-
Another BOS for Sylvester, feelin' Mighty Real. An evergreen from Dave's Pride sets, but only the second time it's ever appeared in a year-based set.
-
BOS# Cheap Trick, awesome -- AWESOME! -- rock band!!!!
Cannot agree more.
Were you in SF when they did the three-night run at the Music Hall, playing their each of first three albums on consecutive nights? I think they were one of the first to use that gimmick, now everyone's doing it.
-

Bwahahaha! it made her feel MIGHTY real.
-

Saw them a few years later a GAMH, then once more in that Marin Sonoma fair in 06, maybe?

21 guns 21 times a day is more than enuf!

BTW, they're using "Know Your Enemy" in the trailer for The Spy Next Door, a godawful-looking Pacifier/Kindergarten Cop knockoff with Jackie Chan. Painful.

12/14/09 - Monday... Must be...1978!!
1. Warren Zevon - Johnny Strikes Up the Band
2. Carly Simon - You Belong to Me
(TV: Fantasy Island)
3. Jay Ferguson - Thunder Island
4. Van Halen - Jamie's Cryin'
(Ad: Camaro Z-28)
5. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
6. Bruce Springsteen - Candy's Room
(Movie: Animal House)
7. Cheap Trick - Top of the World (BOS)
8. Talking Heads - Artists Only
(News: Jessica Savich - Nuke Protests/Gay Pride Rally)
9. Sylvester - You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) (BOS)
10. Cars - All Mixed Up
BONUS TRACK: Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated
it's a wonderful (top of the) world in which Cheap Trick and Sylvester tie for BOS!
-
3 BOS's & 2 VHM's...it's safe to say that Annalisa has made me a fan of 1978 now! ;D (She already knocked out 1981, 1980, & 1979....4 years in her first year.)
-
AAAAAAAAACK!!! "Thunder Island"! Oh. No. You. DIH-unt!
great set~
coulda used some Joe Walsh, though!
ETA: Wait a minute.. I realized just as I submitted this comment that the great Joe Walsh is on Thunder Island. (He plays on this Jay Ferguson track). If fact, I think he ran for president of Thunder Island, but narrowly lost to Ric Ocasek.
How Ya Doin'?
-
I recorded this set -- msg me w your deets for the link.

Would not be at all surprised, as Jay Ferguson was the keyboardist in Joe's band around this time.
