Title: 23 Nov 2009: 1973
Post by: RGMike on November 23, 2009, 09:57:09 AM
seems like we were just there (tho' it's been a month), but who's complaining?

ETA: they ran the promo right before the show, which said "the year the Sears Tower opened" -- which Wiki said was '74. ooops.

At Big Game this Saturday (heavy sigh), the Cal Band did a tribute to Stevie Wonder.  Their version of "Higher Ground" was almost unrecognizable.  They have no funk whatsoever.

did they arrange themselves to look like a giant pair of sunglasses? ;)

BOS Ike'n'Tina!  Ike's nuts + Tina's bush = "Nutbush".

BOS for Jack Sheldon and Conjunction Junction.  I remember seeing him on Merv Griffin (though I remember him playing the trumpet, I didn't remember what show he was on).  He's funny, and still alive, apparently.

Ha!  I'm home with a slightly sick 22-month old.  He and his 5-year old brother have been listening to this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schoolhouse_Rock!_Rocks) for the past week or two since we found it on the CD shelf.

When he heard Conjunction Junction, the little one's face lit up, and he ran to their bedroom to see if the CD was playing there.

When they cut it off prematurely, he came out with a really confused look on his face.

[We also bought the School House Rock! DVD after seeing "School House Rock! Live" at the Retrodome (a recently-renovated dome theater converted into art moviehouse/musical theater venue.)]

It sounds like Flight of the Conchords parodying Bowie. (Just saw that episode again yesterday)
