And we're Way Down Now w/ World Party! Wooo wooo!!
ETA: Btw, it's T-minus 5 posts to 10K for moi.
-
was hoping for "Funny Friday". '90 starts with a Moreytrina from World Party. Sorry, I want bustouts and I want 'em now.
-
I think I may "Disappear" if AL doesn't shake things up a bit.

I'm at the Sound... 1976 Locomotive Breath by Tull
now John Sebastian Welcome Back

If it makes you feel any better, Disappear has only one previous appearance in the DB. It's all those other plays during the other 22 hours of the day that makes it *seem* like a K.
Steinbrenner got banished? WTF happened with that? Seems like he got un-banished pretty quickly.
-
Now Peter Murphy on the other hand, is a legitimate K, or at least a frequent flyer.
-
AL cuts up my hopes with another Morey fave.
-
proxy of GazWOS: Hiatt. He's got a real fine love; we've got a real dull set (so far).
-
Here's your bustout, Hiatt's Real Fine Love. But for some reason, I'm not all that thrilled about it. Def. sounds like 90 though.
-
Here's your bustout, Hiatt's Real Fine Love.
and how sad is that? as an artist, Hiatt's been heard many many times in late-'80s/early '90s sets.
Yikes, Billy TrinaIdol rockin' the cradle for the umpteenth time. Funny SNL bit, tho'.
-
BOS Phil Hartman. He's as worthy as anything else we've heard so far.
TANC: Watched a clip of him on News Radio last night that someone had posted on FB. A master from the word go, his death was one of the biggest losses in the last 20 years.
-
BOS Sinbad, er, Sine-Aid, er, Sinead.
-
BOS2 Skinhead O'Connor. For whatever reason, she's only appeared in 1990 sets, save for one St. Patrick's day appearance.
And that's 10K.
ETA: Emperor's New Clothes=not a bustout. Dave played it once in 2004. But I'll take it.
-
And that's 10K.
Woo Hoo!

BOS2, proxy of gaz/poc/etc Jellyfish.

And that's 10K.
Woo Hoo!

Man, you're quick with those! But thankya, thankya verramuch!
TANC: I just looked back at the setlist from the date when The Emperor's New Clothes first appeared. That day it was followed by The King Is Half Undressed just like today. Can't argue with a good segue, though.

damn good coffee;
highly overrated TV show.
and TMBG has an uber-Trina.

-
One more K to finish the day: Birdhouse in Your Soul, TMBG.
-
OK, one more. Not a K, but it plays one on the radio: Indigo Goils, Hammer and a Nail.
-
VHM Indigos.

yikes, aren't we done yet?

yikes, aren't we done yet?
That's what I thought, too, but I'll take Social D. any day. Not in the DB, but I wanna say AL played Ball and Chain in one of her previous forays to the 90s.
-
hammer & nail... ball & chain...
Not an unpleasant set, but almost entirely Moreycentric. What is it about the '90s that stymies all 10@10 hosts?

We def heard this within the last 4-5 months.

Yep, AL played it on July 1, which was probably her first visit to '90. That set's TOTHK was the same World Party tune that today's led with. Hrm.
ETA: And that day's bonus track was Emperor's New Clothes. Now I like all of those songs, so can't complaint too much, but I'm just sayin'.

well, she's a newlywed, so she's busy doing... other stuff ;) But a little mindless pop-chart stuff would help these '90s excursions. Janet Jackson, Lisa Stansfield, Maxi Priest, Prince...

I'm pretty sure I remember Annalisa playing Disappear before in either a 1990 or 1991 set...but I have never heard it at all during the other 22 hours on KFOG (though they play plenty of other INXS songs all the time). It gets BOS1 from me.
-
...and BOSs 2, 3, 4 and 5 go to Murphy, Hiatt, O'Connor, and TMBG.
1990, that's more like it. True it was a bit very Morey-esque but I've waited 4 weeks for a 90s set so I'll take it, even tho this one barely qualifies. I know 60s and 70s seem to be more popular around here, but seriously it's been a month and that's ridiculous...I mean, I wouldn't even wish a month with no 70s sets on any of you! >:(

As Bill Clinton used to say, "Ah feel your pain!" And tho' I wish such sets were more well-rounded, pop-wise, I completely agree that the lack of '90s sets is odd; we seem to have gone in the opposite direction, demographically (since everyone usually chases after younger listeners) and I can't help thinking the arrival of 103.7 The Band has something to do with it. This morning around 6 they played EJ's "Daniel" and Aerosmith's "Dream On" back-to-back -- 2 '70s cuts in a row is something they used to avoid doing.

BOS to Midnight Oil, the bonus track. WOS to John Hiatt.
Song I'd love to hear in a 1990 set, but probably won't:
"Tell Me Something" by Indecent Obsession.
-
was this set a repeat?
It seems awful.. awfully familiar, that is. :) BOS to P Murphy. I saw him in NYC the year before, on his Deep Tour, I believe.
Song I would like to hear in 1990, and perhaps we have, but I'm too lazy to chk the database: Charlatans UK - Only One I Know
10K for urth! wOOt!

11/6/09 - FRIDAY!! Back to...1990!!
10. Social Distortion - Ball & Chain
listening to Saturday replay, and this comes up. Sounds familiar, like "Story of My Life," which a band I was in, played at a party. I thought it sucked. This song sounds the same. Headache-inducing chain saw guitars, unappealing vocalist, etc. I presume others like this song, and it's just one of those old fart things.
