WOS Journey. And that "chartbusters -- on 10@10, DIG??" sounder has Got. To. GO. Talk about grating.

I knew it! I was totally having this internal conversation about what Annalisa would do on her first day back, or if she might even be doing one more classic before she settles in.  And then it hit me, the easiest set to do is probably these Chartbusters, no cips in between, find a list somewhere, take about 20 minutes to pull together, tops.

(y'all'll just have to take my word for it, but I even had the 80's pegged)

Makes sense to me.

This Journey tune can't end quickly enough, though.  Uber-WOS.

She hasn't done as many '80s Chartbusters as she has '60s & '70s, so I shouldn't complain -- but with Journey being followed by MAW...  hope this improves rapidly.

Yep, totally by the numbers with Men Not Working Very Hard in the 3rd spot.

Amen to that. My dislike for MAW is well documented.

Men Without Hats. Somewhat of an improvement. At least it doesn't grate so badly.

And it's the Extended (Safety) Dance Remix.  Though I'd have to say it doesn't improve the experience.  I like SD, but it really should remain a compact little cheeze kernel.

This Journey tune can't end quickly enough, though.  Uber-WOS.

I had those thoughts while out on a quick run to Safeway & back before 10, and since KFOG had a string of commercials I had flipped to 103.7 The Band, which upon flipping treated me to the guitar solo in "Magic Man".  And I was thinking about that list sometime back of Worst Guitar Solos (in which it was somewhere in the middle), and thinking that there had to be a whole helluva lot of worse ones than that.

And "Who's Crying Now" is surely one!

After the Journey and MAW tunes, Drive doesn't seem nearly so objectionable. Actually it was almost tolerable, even then. Those 10cc references softened the blow, no doubt.

Back to the cheeze counter. A-ha is another that has me reaching for the volume control.

Well the MW/OH was a rarity in the Dave years, 1 of it's 3 appearances was in a Turkey Day set at my request, so I give it BOS #1.

Since this set isn't getting anyone too worked up, here's a couple of M3S using songs we've already heard to liven up the hour:

Queen - Another One Bites The Dust
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground
Sweet - Ballroom Blitz

Cars - Drive
Beatles (Yay!) - Something
Heart - These Dreams

WOS2 the English-as-a-2nd-or-3rd-language of A-Ha.

Yikes, Robert Palmer, not meaning to turn us on for the 2nd time in less than a week.  Continuity alert!

Another WOS to Big Mac, even if it's not the Goat on lead vox.

the *other* Big Mac may be returning to baseball as the Cards' hitting coach. I'm sure he's still loved in STL,  but do they really want that PR distraction?

AL may have only done a few clunkers in her tenure as 10@10 producer, but this has outdone all of 'em. Possibly the worst set in the last 5 years. Truly awful.

Dave had that happen a few times with new sets right after a "classic" -- what are the odds, really?

heh, I'm glad I went over to the Sound for much of this set.  They're doing songs featuring piano.  Ray Charles doing What'd I Say (live) made my morning.

Now it's some BJ action , I think.  NY State of Mind

Saw that too, and I think it is totally in character for LaRussa to do that.  And as far as McGwire's love level in St. Louis, they changed the name of the main freeway that connects downtown to the airport, so I think he'll be okay.

WOS2 the English-as-a-2nd-or-3rd-language of A-Ha.

If you think their non-native-English-songwriting skills were bad then, you should hear (or do everything to avoid) their new album...just about every song on it even makes me cringe.

LOL @ the comments for today's set.  After two weeks of (mostly) archaic suckiness we finally get a set chock full of the type of songs that make me LOVE this show!!  ;D

I wasn't too crazy about Queen and agree that Journey gets WOS, but everything after that gets a BOS or VHM.  The perfect set to listen to while driving back.  Especially when Safety Dance came on followed by Drive, that was exhilirating.

BOS's (in order): Cars, Men Without Hats, TFF, Mac, A-Ha.  HM Winwood, Robert Palmer, Men at Work.

BOS Men Without Hats, WOS Journey

I don't think there's any other 80's act that has depreciated as quickly in my mind as Steve Perry and company.
