and a typical '89 set it is, too. Unfortunately.

I'm at the Sound, checking out their mystery theme, which I think I've guessed already

taste-a like-a waindwop, she's got da WOS.

I've never understood the love that otherwise smart, pop-loving folks have for Roxette. Derivative cheeze at best.

For what it's worth, this is the oldest 1989 set in the DB. Aired as a classic on June 4, 2002.

You be Dave for a while, and I'll be AL.

BOS #2 "Mayor of Simpleton", which, contrary to some thinking, isn't actually about Sarah Palin

yeesh, the equally unavoidable FYC, followed by flying Satriani.  These were katrinas in 2002, never mind 7 years later.

wow -- they really DID use a Dave set with his voice on it!  Wonder how much he's getting paid for this ;)

if they were gonna use one of his, why not one of his great "earthquake" sets rather than a boring '89 one that included *one* Loma Prieta clip?

I'll be surprised if we hear more than one other Dave-era set among the 'classics' we're getting til AL returns from her honeymoon. She's done close to 100 sets now, so that's plenty for them to pull from--in management's opinion, anyway.

agreed -- esp if they really do have to pay him a fee for use of his voice.

Such a breath of fresh air!!! 1960's VT, '70s x 2, & Funny Friday on Wednesday - seriously this week made me want to gag myself with a spoon.  Though to be fair Funny Friday was one of the better non-year sets.

I tuned in to this starting with Roxette but after about 2 or 3 songs I knew it was from the Dave era - not because of songs Annalisa wouldn't play, but due to the sleek production and song/clip intro & outros. (This is another reason it felt like a breath of fresh air today.)  Annalisa doesn't have that down quite yet...though I know she has been at this for only a few months now.

It is rather Dave-ish (obviously) but there were still lots of great tracks in this set - BOS's to the Replacements/FYC/Satriani and VHM to Roxette & XTC.

Wow.  Heard the replay today.  After the final buzzer, Dave got as far as "Well..." and then they abruptly cut off the backsell with a Nissan Commercial.  Incredibly offensive.

Hi guys -- Annalisa -- hope you're having a great honeymoon...

I just caught the replay of Friday's 10@10, which was a "classic" Dave
Morey one from 1989.

I was dismayed that as soon as the final buzzer went off and Dave
started to say something, you guys abruptly cut him off with a Nissan
commercial before he could do his wrap-up.  Wow.

I don't know if this also happened on Friday morning or evening.

Now I imagine there are all kinds of complicated contractual things that
are involved with the archive of Dave's work at KFOG and what you can
or cannot use.

But out of respect for both Dave and his fans, if you can't let Dave
do the rundown of the songs, could you please not rerun his shows at
all?  Heck, even for non-hardcore fans, it's incredibly strange to
hear 10 songs in a row w/ various news/movie clips beautifully
intertwined, and then... a Nissan commercial and no backsell.

If this was just a technical glitch, well, somebody's hand should get
slapped.  (But I don't think it was, as I've heard of this happening before.)

Thanks.

Yeah, I heard that too and it was annoying.  It also happened at the end of the 10PM replay, but after the 10AM Friday set they didn't cut out Dave's voice.

That's because when it was written, she was still Sarah Heath.

Hey -- Annalisa's finally catching up with her e-mail and replied to me.  radical347-- good to hear they didn't cut Dave off in the AM.  I guess maybe it was just a late-night (and Saturday morning?) production error.  :-/

Hi Darryl,
I wasn't aware that happened...though I'm sorry to hear that the "voice
of voices" was cut off. We all cherish his voice... I'll forward this to
our production folks...someone must have slipped apparently.
I appreciate you taking the time to write and to listen...
Thanks very much.
I hope your week is off to a good start-
Take Care,
Annalisa

I'm guessing AL is unaware of the "if we air Dave, we have to pay Dave" situation (or is playing dumb).
