But she didn't say what year specifically. WTF?!?
ETA: Per Wikipedia, Tyson bit Holyfield's ear in June of '97. Hmmm. Any potential for goodness here?
-

Not sure what this is, but it has hints of Hootieness.

Sister Hazel; '97, I think.

It's like Darius Rucker sitting in w the Barenaked Ladies... and they're using the Autotone.

DING! DING! DING!
Great potential in this year -- but WOS Sistah Hazel, indeed one of the many Hootie clones that proliferated at the time. If this turns out to be more KFOG than Live 105 we're in for a stultifying 45 mins.

HAH! Spot on, TC!
What's the Sound got on today?

liked the second song, and BOS to King Of The Hill clip. I've really grown to appreciate that show.
-
How bizah that this became a big hit. I kinda like it even though that fellow can't/doesn't sing.
-
Proxy of my friend Alan, OMC's "How Bizarre" is practically his favorite song in the world.

Too true. Ever see the video? This guy is a Maori New Zealander & they spend most of the time driving around in a red convertible with his girlfriend who is not really that good-looking.
-
Proxy of my friend Alan, OMC's "How Bizarre" is practically hi sfavorite song in the world.
BOS1 from me -- and a good example of the KFOG/Live 105 disconnect I just mentioned.
And here's another: BOS2 the MM Bosstones -- methinks AL played this in her other 1997 set, no?
-
Nothing too engaging so far, and there's a high likelihood of Sheryl Crow, so that's not a plus. However, we could also hear MMMBop, so there's that.
Safe bet we'll get a Princess Diana death clip, too.
ETA: I see that '97 gave us not one but two of Dave's fave Turkeys, too: Tubthumping and Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?
-
I never had to knock on wood, but I know someone who gives this a BOS...namely me.
Unfortunately I have to hop on BART & head downtown for another lawyer meeting. If I miss any more Live105 staples from '97, I will be bummed.

BOS to the Bosstones and the swoonworthy Dickie Barrett. Still hoping for White Town, though.

MMBs get BOS for me. I bought their CD, but it didn't really work for me. This is the best thing on there.
-
Wow, what was that movie clip with the guy singing Afternoon Delight? Weird.
VHM for an Oasis song that isn't played to death.
ETA: oh, I take that back. It was played to death on that AT&T commercial.
-

go see Extract if it's still in theaters, or else queue it up on Netflix. Mike Judge wrote & directed & has a minor speaking part which he does completely in his 'Hank' voice.
Oooooh, an ATBB for sure, lesser played Oasis BOS #2.
gotta run!
-

The Wedding Singer? Pretty sure it was Adam Sandler.
-

indeed. Other Live-105ish faves I'd love to hear: Corenershop, Ben Folds Five, Cardigans. And of course Hanson would make my day. If AL plays Blur's "Song 2" it will offically become her Katriniest Katrina.
BOS3 that Oasis bustout; BOS4 Indigo Grrrrls.
-
I banjos in this IG song...now I'm really gonna be late.
-
More Live 105yness, but I'm blanking on the name of this song/band. VHM in any case. Everclear?

That's them. BOS for me. And it isn't even one of their two hits, so big rarity points.
-
BOS that long distance calling ad, just cause Phil Hartman was the announcer. RIP, Phil.
-

TANC: Sandler's clever, forgotten "Listening to the Radio" (yes, a song on a mostly spoken comedy album) was a KFOG staple that year -- if AL played that, I'd plotz.
-
Everclear to Everlong. Nice. And BOS for Foo Fighters, just in general.
-
And the 105yness keeps on coming: Foo Fighters; as with the rest of the set, not one of their more overplayed tunes.

Indeed, and even more so with Bush. Though I was listening to 98.5 a lot at this point, and we've got Bush there.
-
is this Mr Vedder or one of his many clones? WOS either way.
ETA: I see it's Bush -- and ya know us gay guys have no use for bush.
-

Nope, Gavin Rossdale and Bush. They were all the rage for a couple years. I was a little surprised they faded so quickly--he's got a fairly distinctive inflection in his voice and I thought their songs were a cut above most of the rest of alterna-rock fodder. The solo record he put out this year didn't do much at all.
-
Doot doot doot! doot doo-doo-doot! Do ever watchoo wanna do, you 3-eyed semi-charmer you.
-
Doot doot doot! doot doo-doo-doot! Do ever watchoo wanna do, you 3-eyed semi-charmer you.
Just about as catchy as Mmmmmbop, and not nearly as tired as Third Eye Blind's hit, whose name escapes me right now.

he ain't no hollaback boy. I recall KFOG played that solo thing quite a bit, didn't they?

HM to Stephan Jenkins, just for boinking Charlize Theron. His third eye wasn't blind, that's for sure! (boo-yah!)

I thought that *was* their hit -- they had another?

I think it was, too. Didn't they also do a pointless Cure cover which got some airplay?

You're right that that was their big hit, but the song I'm thinking of is "Never Let You Go", which I've heard a lot more in the recent past. I had to go to AMG and listen to figure it out.
-
Third Eye Blind have gone Top 40 (Radio-n-Records) six times:
Semi-Charmed Life: 6 wks @ #1
How's It Going To Be: #11
Jumper: 1 wk @ #1
Never Let You Go: #4
Deep Inside Of You: #23
Blinded: #35

...the latter of which became the bonus track for today. Should never have opened my (virtual) mouth.
-
2 97 sets from AL and 2 Katrinas already. (Everlong and The Impression That I Get.) Nonetheless I liked this set, a bit Hot AC-ish, but still not bad & very 1997. And yes, it was a near-complete trip down Hits 106 memory lane ;D - the only one they didn't play was Get Out the Map...although they did play some of their other ones like Shame On You (Get Out the Map WOS...I wonder if the Indigo Girls will ever figure out how to not be boring).
Appreciated some of the lesser-known tracks from fairly prolific bands...Greedy Fly, All Around the World and my fave Everclear track, Everything to Everyone (BOS).
I used to hate everything about the OMC song. It didn't help that it still got played to death until about 2003 or 2004. When I heard it today I realized now I'm indifferent to it.
-
Did AL play the entire 10 minute version of "All Around The World"? If so, give that BOS. Otherwise, Everclear. WOS Sister Hazel - never got into that one.
Song I'd love to hear from 1997, but probably won't: Meredith Brooks, "What Would Happen".
-
10/02/09 - FRIDAY!!! Not so far back...1997!!
1. Sister Hazel - All For You
2. Big Head Todd - Please Don't Tell Her
(TV: King of the Hill)
3. OMC - How Bizarre
4. Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impression That I Get
5. Oasis - All Around the World
(Movie: Good Will Hunting)
6. Indigo Girls - Get Out the Map
(AD: 1-800 Collect with Phil Hartman)
7. Everclear - Everything to Everyone
8. Foo Fighters - Everlong (BOS!)
9. Bush - Greedy Fly
10. Third Eye Blind - Semi-Charmed Life
BONUS TRACK: Paula Cole - Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?
-
I think it was the short ver. of All Around the World.
What Would Happen would be good, though even more than that I'd love to hear Stop by Meredith Brooks (and preferrably the radio mix - I was never able to locate it)
I'd love to hear Barbie Girl. Although I did see in the db that Dave played it in his '97 set which I sadly missed.
