Chartbusters my butt.

Chartbusters my butt
indeed -- that baffles me. Maybe Dave surreptitiously copyrighted the phrase?
looking out my back door to see that there ain't no sunshine.
-
Nice start with CCR -- Looking out my Back Door -- one of my alltime favorites. Woo Hoo!!!
And I'm totally impressed with 70's set today. I figured with '67 and '76 set already this week, today would be a disappointment. But noooooooooo...
-
Mah. Mo. YEAH!!
-
Raspberries Goin all the way ... overplayed but still a great tune.
-
my my myeah!
BOS, The (Mighty) Raspberries!
-
Sweet sweet AL is doin' her act.
-
Not a bad showing so far. BOS CCR, Raspberries, and GFR, stayin' up all night with Freddie King.

I always thought it was Frank King... which certainly scans better (one less syllable)
BOS Hai Karate. I used lots of that stuff back in the day.

More likely part of a conscious effort to separate 10@10 Mark II from Dave's version. I'm hopeful that Hits From Hell will make the jump across the divide.
-
BOS, Bad Co.
-
Are you ready Steve?
BOS Sweet!
-
can't get enuf of the Sweet? -- actually I can; "B Blitz" has been ubiquitous lately.
-
Proxy of Beej, "Ballroom Blitz".
-
great riff, but the lead vocalist's cartoonish yelling not too sweet at times on this

Pretty sure it's Freddy. Several lyric sites and wikipedia all concur:
Out on the road for forty days
Last night in Little Rock, put me in a haze
Sweet, sweet Connie was doin' her act
She had the whole show and that's a natural fact
Up all night with Freddie King
I got to tell you, poker's his thing
Booze and ladies, keep me right
As long as we can make it to the show tonight

oh I know... I went to Top40 db before I posted. But amazingly this was the first time I ever became aware of the discrepancy/m'green.
VHM Congressman John Hall & Orleans.
-
We're diggin' into the cheeze--Still the One, which would be fodder for a thousand TV commercials.
Hope they held onto their publishing!
-
hmm, sounds like Orleans ripped off the Sweet's Ballroom Blitz guitar riff
-
Is this the 2nd time AL has played disco Star Wars? VHM anyway -- cheeze factor just surged.

Sing with me: "Star Wars, nothing but Star Wars. If they should bar wars, where would we be?"
-
Star Wars takes me back, I saw it in the first couple days before it became a phenomenon. Back then movies, at least in St. Louis, usually opened on Wed.
ooooh that chartbusters guy is like fingernails on chalkboard, but LRB is a very soothing antidote. BOS #2.

agreed on Mr Voiceover Guy -- yeesh. LRB would be more welcome had I not heard it on Klassic Kasem this wknd. But at least this is the full version, not the bad edit Casey played.
-
another BOS for Reminiscing
-
And the cheeze just keeps on comin'! Reminiscing with Little River Band.
-
Pop Pop CheezMuzik!
-
And we wrap it up oh so tastefully with M's Pop Muzik! Which is what this set's been all about anyway, right?

Jumping Jack
I wanna hold
Get Back"

I was just gonna say that I don't think the version that charted had the trumpet solo. But you know I loves me some trumpet solos.
-
hmm, I thought the 70s were more exciting than this set implied.. ;)

The bonus track is gonna live forever and learn how to fly.
Is anybody interested in the least in the Fame remake? Couldn't imagine why. Of course, LaSalle gave it a mostly positive review.

yeah it looks pretty awful, or at least unnecessary. If "Fame" had been in the actual set, it would've been a bustout, no? Or a serious rarity.

I just a read a review of the movie that says that in this new version none of the students at the High School of Performing Arts are gay. WTF?? In real life that place is theater-queen CITY.

LOL! I actually used to work down the street from what the HSoPA had evolved into in the 1980s (when they moved into new digs at Amsterdam and 64th). The kids always seemed cool, but I once had to deal with the faculty/admins -- my car was boxed in by double-parked vendors who were inside the school, and it took and HOUR to find a faculty member who would make an announcement on their PA system to find the perpetrators. rather clueless bureaucrats.

Maybe they needed some warm up time before making a public announcement. "She slits her sheets, her sheets she sits, upon the slitted sheet she sits." etc.
I used to work in Midtown near there. Do you recall the Kosher pizzeria that was nearby? I think it was across the street. Ate there a couple times... Now dat's a spicy Motzah Ball!

I would concur. I'll give BOS to Sweet if for no other reason than I just randomly selected them for my next iPod loading.
As far as "Fame" goes - let's just say I don't plan on watching any version. But ironically I had a crush on Irene Cara for "Breakdance". Speaking of which, that's a 1984 song I'd love to hear on 10@10, but probably won't.

Sing with me: "Star Wars, nothing but Star Wars. If they should bar wars, where would we be?"
This gets BOS from me, for sheer ballsiness as a 10@10 selection. I love the Cantina Band section.
