anyone besides me try to listen via radio broadcast in the 20 minutes before the set?  I was in my car & as far as I could tell KFOG was off air from at least 9:38-9:54. Not even static.  Came inside, fired up the laptop & all seems to be well on the stream.

No idea, but the stream is working.  Which is weird if not downright implausible.

Same here.  The radio, both 104.5 and 97.7, are still not working.

Glad I'm on the stream. We had ZZ Top follow the Hiatt, Party On The Patio. OK, but wasn't a big fan back in the day, and still not--they've done better.

Now we're hearing the theme to Good Times, followed by the Chic tune of the same name.

Anyone else thinking this theme is kinda on the lame side?

actually quite plausible -- they're in the studio doing the show, it's going directly to the web. It's the connection to the transmitter that's f---ed up.

Dave did a similar thing on a couple occasions ("here comes the weekend", or "party weekend" or somesuch). She needed a theme set, and Moday (presumably) we'll get the tradiional "work songs" set.

how about Jigsaw Puzzle by the Rolling Stones?

Oh the singer, he looks angry
At being thrown to the lions
And the bass player, he looks nervous
About the girls outside
And the drummer, he's so shattered
Trying to keep up time
And the guitar players look damaged
They've been outcasts all thier lives

back in 8th grade, I had a friend who was a drummer. He had those "Music Minus One for Drums" albums to practice with: you put the record on and you hear the song minus your instrument's sounds, which you provide.  pretty neat.

My favorite track on that LP was Wipeout!

It wasnt easy
But nothing is, no

When I feel heavy metal
And Im pins and Im needles
Well I lie and Im easy
All of the time but Im never sure when I need you
Pleased to meet you

I got my head done
When I was young
Its not my problem
Its not my problem

Yeah, yeah

I had it as "I got my head shaved by a ja-mo-che" and figured that a jamoche (sp?) was some sort of LA slang that I was not hip to, but which Mr. Alborn was using for ironic effect.

I haven't confirmed it, but perhaps it was Hollywood Knights (1980), the PG-13 missing link between American Graffiti and Porky's.  Not well-known, but this was the film debut of Robert 'Arli$$' Wuhl, as the main character, along with Tony Danza (in the middle of his Taxi run) & a very early role for Fran Drescher* (who is in my top 3 Most Annoying People in the World).  And it was also Michelle Pfeiffer's film debut, in a supporting role.

*For 10 Frink points, what Oscar-nominated film was her debut?

Joe "King" Carrasco RULES! He was a cult fave on '80s NYC alternative radio.  "Caca de Vaca" (yes, that translates as "cow shit") was quite popular back in the day.

I agree with you here.  AL doesn't seem to be too good with TOTHC's.  Then again, maybe she's not trying to be.  (I like John Hiat well enough, but he's not the first that comes to mind when I think of "party.") Maybe she's trying to build excitement...and to be fair she's done a pertty good job of that in most of her sets.

Hearing the theme I fully expected the set to suck but I was pleasantly surprised.  Hiatt, ZZ Top, Chic, Wang Chung, Blur...good stuff.
