hey there, Katrinacup!
Can't be a coincidence after hearing the clips from There's Something About Mary yesterday, can it?
-
Been a while since we heard Mr. Starr's "25 Miles". (Is that what it's called?) Great tune.
-
Wha 'appen? I'm listening to the radio & it jsut cut out after some deep voiced announcer type said something.
-
BOS, Hot Wheels!tm
-
I was too old for Hot Wheels by '69.
BOS Spirit -- but we're being very Moreyish so far.
-
Okay, it's back, and we are well into Spirit.
ETA: maybe it was just me? sounds like Rod & Mike didn't miss anything.
-
Okay, it's back, and we are well into Spirit.
so, for once, the stream is better than the over-the-air version? I'm gobsmacked!
-
Morey-ish b/c he played the same great songs, I gotcha. But they are great.
BOS to Spirit -- would love to hear Mr Skin someday.

People would quit gobsmacking you if you just gave up your seat to the elderly. :D

this bluesy thang is NTM. Anybody?
-
Here's something different -- so different I've never heard it before. Sounds like Elvin Bishop. Anybody know?

That was my thought, and all I've heard is the Spirit tune so far. Dave loved this one--it appears no fewer than 13 times in the DB (two of which are classics).
Now *this* on the other hand--Johnny Winter? Totally new.

I'm thinking Johnny Winter, but...

Worst Person Ever (Sixties Division): Charles Manson.
OMG! BOS2 PP&M, giving John Denver some of his first residuals.

btw, Johny Winter will be at the Sausalito Art Festival this Sunday.
also, btw: John Waters is lobbying for the release of one of the Mason Family convictees, Leslie Van Houten. His fixation on all things weird brought him to investigate the Murders and he concluded that she really was a pawn that qualifies for parole at this point. She may have been under Charles' spell, but she's not the same kind of criminal.

Gobsmacked again! Flying Burrito Bros, "Hot Burrito #1" is BOS #3

interesting chart history on this one, kind of the inverse of Zager & Evans. Peter, Paul & Mary had 19 Billboard Hot 100* chart hits in an eight year period, and, after finally hitting #1 with this song, never charted again.
*including the rare feat of having a song peak at #100: "The Other Side Of This Life".
-
Leaving On A Jet Plane is one of those songs I can't sing without tearing up a little.

I love John Waters but his timing couldn't be worse -- no judge is gonna give a murderer "compassionate parole" when the world is freaking out about Scotland giving that Lockerbie guy the same.
BOS4 Stones "Love in Vain". Gawd I lurved me some Let it Bleed, which I got for Xmas that year.

Am on a different computer & don't have my Db handy, but iirc, Dave rarely played Stones in '69 sets, so this is probably a bustout.
-
BOTVM -- mr eddie's father.
-
that was a TV clip montage worthy of Dave. I was only a little boy, but I think my first crush was on Karen Valentine.

That ABC "meet us in September" jingle is worthy of a Gaz sunshine-pop mixtape! Gawd I lurved me some Room 222
uber-BOS5 to "Sweet Caroline", Sawx connotations notwithstanding.

indeed, but I think ABC did the heavy lifting there, not AL.

Me too!
-
I've always loved the way "Sweet Caroline" sounds like it was conceived as the follow-up to "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show", but ended up being a much bigger hit after "BLTSS" (which the label expected to be a smash) underperformed.
-
BOS6 and proxy of Cairo to DCT with BS&T, sounding great today even tho' I've heard it a bazillion times.
As usual, AL starts out Moreyesque and then detours into bustouts'n'rarities.
-
BOS # I've-lost-count, CSN - 49 Bye Byes
always loved the harmonies on this one even more than on most CSN stuff.
-
Yee-haw!

VHM CSN

49 bye byes to end the set. Clever.

Paradise, CA? Why are you going there? Other than to pay homage to the greatest internet radio station...
BOS for CSN. A great, and less-played song.
I missed the whole middle of the set for a meeting. DCO!
-
so will we get our Labor Day theme set tomorrow or Monday?

Yep. I have friends up there, and a standing Labor Day invitation. Also, big riverside party on Sat at another friend's place -- rumor has it their will be a band this year...

Great minds.
Now here's serious BOS material: PP&M, Leavin' On A Jet Plane. Was this really from '69?
Later: Crap, thought I had posted this before the phone rang. Obviously not, and missed everything that followed.
-
i'll be at the Sausalito Art Festicle this Sunday to take in Johnny Winter, some decent wine and too much crappy art. Will anyone else be there?
-

Damn, this was a great great set. Too bad I'm too preoccupied to really enjoy it. Must go pack, tomorrow I'm again "leavin' on a jet plane."
Overall BOS to Hot Burrito #1, but could easily have been anything except the Spirit tune.

BOS Spinning Wheel
