Judge provides a real blast-from-the-past: TS Monk's "Bon Bon Vie", very much in the Kid Creole/Dr Buzzard vein.
"We'll have Dom Perignon
Till our minds are blown!"
followed by Prince, takin' it "Uptown".
"White Black Puerto Rican
Everybody just a-freakin'!"
-
Ray Parker Jr's in love with the "Other Woman". Makes him wanna grab his, er, guitar.
-
JJ plays Marvin's "Baby, Dont You Do It" -- much preferred to the Band's cover version.
and now Shorty Long's havin' a function at his, er, junction.
-
OMFG! the Pigmeat Markham version of "Here Come the Judge" -- haven't heard this in ages; the Shorty Long "HCTJ" (and they're 2 completely diff songs) gets the most play. But they both got exposure on WABC back in the day as they battled each other on the charts.
-
LAWD Have Mercy! Rhetta Hughes soulful take on "Light My Fire" -- using the Feliciano arrangement, more or less.

and now it's obscure Martha/Vandellas: "I Can't Dance To That Music You're Playin' ".
-
on 'LNG, it's "Pata Pata" time! Sadly, the orig 45 version of this is not on YouTube.

For gawd's sake don't go do somethin' foolish! 'LNG plays Burton Cummings' "Stand Tall" -- and follows it with the (NTM) Crispian St Peters version of "You Were On My Mind", the Sylvia Tyson song made a hit by the We Five. Apprently St Peters had the UK charter on that one.
-
'LNG plays the little-heard Frankie Lymon version of "Little Bitty Pretty One". The line I always thought was "cause I'm down on my knees" is actually "come sit down on my knee"!
-
the KYA-retro feed is on a roll this morning: The Contours' obscure "Just a Little Misunderstanding" followed by the Newbeats' 4-Seasons-y "Run Baby Run".
-
Brenton Wood, "Gimme Little Sign" -- best soul Farfisa solo evah!
