Title: 21 July 2009: it's 1991
Post by: ggould on July 21, 2009, 10:01:23 AM
Elvis Costello starts; I don't immediately recognize the tune, probably a bustout

"Other Side of Summer?"

Might've been played once (a summer set, maybe?). But BOS from me for EC's ballsiness -- he got a lot of flak for the Lennon reference.

another bustout: American Music Club!  saw them open for Billy Bragg at the Warfield that year. They joined Mr Bragg for his encore -- a long, jammy cover of "Groove Is In the Heart"

WOS to KRS-One's contribution to that, though.  I don't get how a homophobic jackass like him linked up with Stipe.  Must've been the money.

Nice to hear Too Much Joy - just saw Tim Quirk of the band at this spring's EMP Pop Conference.

for a sec there I thought AL was playing a rock radio edit without Mr One.  And you're right; I never got what that pairing was about.

I did some remodeling, and removed what I felt dead, unnecessary, or redundant.  Just click on the icon on right side.

Oh... the graphic.  Sorry, I filter graphics because they're usually ads.

Also, I was confused, because I thought it was a link to the chat room (does anybody actually go there?)

nobody actually goes there; it's just something I setup if we should ever want to do it.  I'll go back and add a text link.  Perhaps that explains your lack of an avatar?

Generally a good set, from what was one of DM's weakest years (he always had issues with 1986 as well). BOS Stone Roses, WOS Chris Whitely (must be a Katrina for this year).

Oof, the text link that's there now: "The old 10@10 Discussion Board" goes to a dead link.  So yeah, putting a text link to *this* forum would be swell.

Yah, no avatar -- I'm old-school like that.  (Seriously, I still use a text-based e-mail client about 90% of the time.)

But I can dig up something for these parts....
