Woohoo! Two 70s sets in one week! Dig it!
-
Nixon was quite the Socialist, eh?
;)
ch-ch-changes indeed

"a year of changes", followed by, er, "Changes". A tad obvious, but my hopes remain high.

It figures that Annalisa couldn't keep up the pattern of 60's-70's-80's-90's-theme forever. I'll assume this counts as our 60's set for the week, given that a Pride set is a relative certainty for Friday.
-
that Attica prisoner phone call clip was amazing.
-
this sounds like a
precursor to Yes
I guess it is! I forgot how old they were.
-
BOS! for Yes. Top of the Album Kooker indeed!

BOS! for yes. Top of the Album Kooker indeed!
BOS from me. Yours Is No Disgrace--but it is a bustout! (We've heard Starship Trooper, but not this 'un.)

I wouldn't call it a certainty (I could never tell how much FOGhead love there was for that particular tradition, as opposed to DM's) but I hope it happens and is not the same 10 songs we usually tend to get.
-
Dude! It's Prog Rock!
Annalisa's song choice is no disgrace.

somebody -- Rob? Larry? -- played this last week, no? But amazing that it's a KFOG Bustout. Once they sang about "Caesar's Palace"; now they play there!

Assuming the '66 set was a special thing to demonstrate how much latitude they were giving her, I'm going to guess that we're really only going to hear 68 and 69 with any regularity, and 67 now and again, just as Dave did. So they'll have to flesh out their list of available 60s years with something--like maybe 70 and 71!

here comes that great xmas carol!
Joy to the World!

I'd like to buy the world some coke!

It's the real thing, all right! Just ask Sly! (or read Gaz's blog today)
least-necessary: 3DN, which we got from Casey this weekend and from Bob on Monday.

mmm...Joni quoting Lennon! BOS so far
-
OMFG! BOS Joni, "California" -- a bustout? I remember Rob and Ginger playing this one, but not Dave.
gawd how I love this LP.
-
Man, was JttW HUGE when it was on the charts. I remember hearing it about twice an hour on the Top 40 station I listened to in Sacramento.
Just noticed Dave never played Never Been to Spain or Black And White, to name two 3DN songs. Guess I shouldn't be shocked--Dave had his faves and didn't deviate from those too often.
BOS2 Joni, California! I'll even kiss a Sunset pig...
-
BOS3 Nilsson!!! "Gotta Get Up", the B-side of "Without You".

Not sure how how it eventually charted (I'm sure Mike is looking that up as we type ;) ), but it was on the AT40 chart replay this past week "coming in at number 12" ->

it was #1 for 5 or 6 weeks -- the #1 single of the entire year, actually.

Six, per Whitburn. It charted for a total of 15 weeks.
VHM to Bolan's Jeepster. Mike, what's he gonna do?
(ETA: See post above.) ;)

-

I don't think I've ever heard this on the radio. Only on the record player & even then not since like forever.
-
another BOS for primal ABB Statesboro Blues!
sling it Duane!

I remember 3DN doing "JttW" on the Grammys in Feb of '71 and thinking -- why are they doing a *new* song? shouldn't they do a song that's nominated, as opposed to one they *hope* will be nominated next year? Well it worked out pretty good for 'em in retrospect.

That "Smarty Pants" doll ad that bookended Dolly Dagger was downright scary.
One more BOS for Statesboro Blues. No bustout by a longshot, but still great.
-
nice segue from Dolly Dagger to Smartypants, the scary-ass doll -=- "she's your friend..".

I never understood why it wasn't a much bigger posthumous hit -- if Janis's "Bobby McGee" could go to #1, this shoulda cracked the Top 40, at least.

Maybe AL can offer better choices..? I also think she sometimes sells some tunes more than others, and induces the caller to go in a certain direction. my .02

you're probably right; since I don't usually listen to the bonus I don't know what the other choices were. But in the DM days she tended to give 3 or 4 pretty decent options most days.
