Wow, ran downstairs for just a minute, came back and I hear the Stooges! Let's hear it for 1969!
-
We've heard this year a lot lately
but we ain't complainin'!!!
AL seems to be trying to cover each decade ('60s '70s '80s '90s) + one "theme set" each week. '90s tomorrow, then perhaps a "summer" set on Friday?
Stooges "1969", making only its 2nd appearance iirc.

Third, actually, but who's counting? ;)

BOS the Mighty Zep, but of course. Percy's got da breakdown.
-
My draft #: 165
-
Fortunate son
-
Mike, wouldn't it be something if we got "Elenore" in this set?
-
My draft #: 165
Was that good or bad? (I've never known how the draft worked!)
-
Ah, Mayberry RFD--aka The Andy Griffith Show post-Andy. Anyone recall how they wrote Andy out of the show? Heart attack? Hit by a bus? Heroin addiction?
-
I used to think Ken Berry was hot.

OMG! the draft lottery! This is amazing. DM obviously had his library of clips, and only very occasionally did he add something new. But AL is spending lots of time on the interwebs, it seems.
My number was quite high -- in the 300's iirc. I was a (you guessed it) "Fortunate Son"
-
My draft #: 165
Being 4 at the time, I missed it.

When Andy Griffith went color it was the start of the downfall. Opie was better in BW
-
omg Monkey Man! one of Keith's best riffs! (Ron Wood agrees)

Andy married longtime sweetheart Helen and they moved to "the big city" -- Raleigh.

they picked 366 birth dates, numbered 1-366. 1 - bad; 366 - very good.

I think 165 was right in the middle. In the draft lottery, they'd draw dates (month/day) out of a hopper, and whatever order they were drawn in determined the draft priority for those born on that date. Sept. 14 was drawn first, so pretty much everyone of draft age born on that date got drafted unless you could come up with a deferrment or your daddy was George H.W. Bush.

BOS2. ahm a mun-kay mmmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

I don't watch color AG -- Howard Sprague was no Barney Fife, Goober was no Gomer.

bad in the early time when I was shielded by my college deferment. When I dropped out, it got close, but I escaped, and was therefore removed from pool after that year.

this reggae thing (also called "Monkey Man"?) is NTM and (obviously) an ATBB.
-
<ignorance> who is this? </ignorance> I only know the Specials remake of monkey man
-
Now this is cool--the Stones' Monkey Man followed by the Maytals' Monkey Man. Def. an ATBB!

Wonder if AL is exploring the Warmth of Vinyl?

BOS, Bowie.

I'm shocked to learn that Space Oddity is a bustout, as far as the database goes.
BOS3 Nilsson, Everybody's Talkin'.
Heard one of Dave's old 1969 bumpers leading into the Midnight Cowboy clip.

all I heard was the MGM lion (incorrect, actually -- MC was a United Artists release.)

I am a lineman for the county ... and damn you, Annalisa, now I am about to be late for work! But I can't leave now.

Oh. My. Effing. god. uber-BOS Glen Campbell, Wichita Lineman. Jimmy Webb rules.

Jimmy Webb JINX!

omg, BOS Glenn Campbell.
This is easily the OMGWTF bustout of AL's nascent 10@10 career. And she's had some beauts so far.

Wonder if they were commissioned to write this for the TV show, or it was already written, then licensed by the producers of 5-0?
-
Great John clip. This ism that ism, ism-ism-ism. The "live" version!
-
give peace a chance!
This isn't the version I'm used to hearing either--anyone know where it might have originated?

I believe it was written for the TV show (that's not them doing it on the show, I don't think) and they saw a good cover opportunity.
ETA: "The song was composed by Morton Stevens, who also composed numerous episode scores" (per Wiki)

Ok, fixing now.

Darryl, can you pop off each day's setlist separately and put them into an RSS feed? (Does this simple machines forum have RSS capability?)
KFOG used to have a RSS feed of their sets, but that went away w their redesign.
-
If I wasn't a lazy-ass, yes. :-}
But seriously, in the past their formatting was pretty loose, so it wasn't easy to parse, and I just said nevermind. I'm thinking of doing the same thing again, sorry.

Problem is, I just saw this past week a rerun of the South Park episode where Mrs. Garrison fights with Richard Dawkins over evolution and then has sex with him ... and screams, uncomfortably like Mick does here, "I'm a monkey! I'm a monkey!"
Song's ruined for me now.

Great John clip. This ism that ism, ism-ism-ism. The "live" version!
Which I'd never heard until just now! Wow!

And if I remember correctly, the drummer on that album was Alan White, who would join Yes a couple of years later after Bill Bruford's departure.

Just wanted (since I so often criticize them) to give kudos to the Fogheads for voting this BOS. If larry had played this in LA, the Sound-heads (or whatever they're called) would've burned him in effigy. I mean... we're picky, but those folks don't like ANYTHING.

Dang it. I was in Sacramento yesterday & missed this. Have to catch the Saturday replay I guess.
Regarding draft numbers, I once heard a pastor friend of my dad's talk about being in a HS assembly when the draft numbers for his year were announced, and in the audience was a guy with the #1 date & one with with the #365. His was #69, so a week later he went ahead and enlisted so he could try to become a chaplain instead of infantry. And he did.
P.S. went to Sacto to pick my cousin Jerome (he of the Madonna concert incident) up at the airport. He's going to a wedding in Tahoe over the weekend, so I contrived to spend the day with him before he went up to South Lake. He told me that he finally gets to go to court next Tuesday to fight the trespassing charges against him, and it turns out that when his lawyer first began discussing the case with her paralegal, the paralegal said, "Wait a minute. I was there. I sat directly behind that guy & saw the whole thing!" She'd never met Jerome, but remembers talking to his boyfriend earlier in the show when he turned around to ask her if it was okay that he set somehting down behind his seat. So she's going to testify on Jerome's behalf. How's that for serendipity?
And as soon as that's cleared up he intends to sue.
