instant BOS/ATBB: Echo/B-men, "Killing Moon". One of the most underrated bands of the '80s.

BOS2 Aztec Camera with an "Obvious" Dave fave.
-
WOS Mary Lou Retton. Gawd I hated that little bitch.
VHM Prince, but "Let's Go Crazy" is another frequent-flyer. AL really spoiled us yesterday.
-
Hello?? Anybody?? Bueller??
-
don't let the elevator bring us down.
good sentiments for today.
-
BOS3 JJ.

BOS #2 JJ.
-
Another BOS for JJ. I'm always torn on the wisdom of the lyric, but musically it's ultrafab.

hells yeah! I'm with you Mike!

Saw them at the Fillmore in 2001 -- it was their Flowers tour.
-
A couple songs late, but I made it. Been into Portland and back already this morning. JJ is tune #4?
-
woo hoo hoo! my favorite song from 1984.
Daylight turns to moonlight, then I'm at my best...

jeez, it's turning into a real Moreyfest! But BOS4 Style Council, just a perfect single and a flashback to warm spring days in NYC.
-
BOS2 to "My Ever-Changing Moods." Kick out the Jam, bring back the Style!
-

The very best example of sophistipop I can think of. Never thought to arrange my favorites by year, but I suspect this is at least Top 3 for '84 for me.

Looks like I tuned in late to a good show...
-
Steve Jobs talks to
Stephen Hawking an Apple Mac.
-
U2ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
-
Dwight Twilley's "Girls" just doesn't do it for me without the video.
-
OK, I realize every set can't be like yesterday's, but other than the TOTHK, this is a Xerox of a DM '84 set. Some fine songs, yes, but... jus' sayin'.
-
This one could have been done by Dave hisself. Loved the Style Council, JJ's OK, but the only bustout was the Echo & the B-men, no?
-
Is it my Mac, or is the stream wigging out?
-
OMG another ATBB! Tina!!!!!!! BOS5 for one of her best singles.
-
speaking of Tina's "Legs"... ZZT! segue-of-the-week.
-

The stream here has been fine today, but it's been selectively freaking out for some of us over the past week or so.
BOS2 to Tina.
-

VHM. Great song - but Cy Curnin of the Fixx showing up on stage in the video as Tina's unappreciative lover is forever a WTF moment for me.
-

great minds...
But as if to keep her average up, even in a Moreytrinafest AL still gives us a couple of bustouts (not sure if "Legs" is a b-o or just a rarity).
-
Gee, we could really use a GEICO ad here. VHM2 to the faux-British Rockwell Gordy.
-
Holy Flaming Mutha of Pop (Argot)! Rockwell -- who doesn't, really, but BOS6 to another ATBB (Austin "Bob"s sets don't really count).

Legs goes into the rarity column--two appearances prior to today's. But amazingly, Tina Turner appears only once as a solo artist in the DB--one play of What's Love Got to Do With It? dating to 6 1/2 years ago.
But the Rockwell is also a BO.
-
Does anyone remember Rockwell's similarly paranoid fgollow-up, "Obscene Phone Caller"? ("If Alexander Bell were alive today / Would he want the telephone to be used this way?")
-
Gee, we could really use a GEICO ad here. VHM2 to the faux-British Rockwell Gordy.
yeah, I would have appreciated this a helluva lot more if Geico hadn't clubbed this song to death like a baby ring seal.
-
actually, AL, it's Kennedy Gordy, not Kenneth.

Exactly
-
So is that Micheal Jackson on backup - or just a rip off?
-
So is that Micheal Jackson on backup - or just a rip off?
it's really him -- he and "Rockwell" (Berry Gordy's son) grew up together, more or less.
-
So is that Micheal Jackson on backup - or just a rip off?
It was Michael himself, doing a solid for the Gordy family.

Bonus Track: Go-Go's "Head Over Heels"

Bonus Track: Go-Go's "Head Over Heels"
which woulda been a bustout in the set. It's official: I (heart) AL.

Yes, she's been doing well w these sets. Despite my griping about AL, I've never thought she lacked musical taste, but she should take a cue from Frank Zappa sometimes: "Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar Records"

Fully agree. None of them looked like a bag of armpits, but I was sure warm for her form.

I could have flipped sides for Belinda at this time - I liked her with a fuller face - but I was much closer to crushville with the Bangles.

don'cha think Belinda looks WAY butch in that video? (or is that why you liked her?) I was always kinda suspicious of her "romance" with Dodger pitcher Ron Cey and her marriage to James Mason's rather metrosexual-looking son.

I concur on that one: I didn't like her look here that much. Still no "bag of armpits" though, LOL.

I dig boyish-looking girls. (See also: Nelly Furtado.)
