All That You Dream is for the 70's on a Monday!
BOS#1 Feats!
-
And All That You Dream is a bustout!
I'll have to catch the repeat tonight--we have a meeting with our contractors this am, and they're just arriving now (the dog is going nutz). Enjoy 75, all--I'll check in later!
Ooooh, George Harrison! Nice!

indeed, and BOS2 (and proxy of gaz) George, back in Spectorian territory with "You".
-
The screen-door slams, Broooce gets a BOS3.
-
reisting the urge to make an Annalisa/Cougar joke.
OMFG! BOS4 Queen "In Love With My car"! I believe this is only in the db once, in a "car tunes" set.
-
BOS #3 "I'm In Love With My Car".
sort of a bustout, never played in a '75 set, only in a couple of Car-Tunes sets.

Dylan's Tangled Up in Blue

Only been three years searching for a design we can afford!

I didn't initially feel like giving "Thunder Road" a BOS vote, until I discovered that it isn't in the Db anywhere. Seriously.
Always a BOS for anything from Blood On The Tracks, one of my desert island discs

that's astounding!
That makes the Dylan the closest to a Morey regular so far.

Jeff Beck. Cause We've Ended as Lovers
me and the other Physics teacher played this for our classes recently!

The hits just keep on coming -- BOS, Jeff Beck, just 'Cause.
-
dunno where that Exorcist parody (2 years after the movie?) is from.
OMG! BOS6 Ms. Ronstadt at her peak of freshness.
-
Strange trivial info re: You're No Good.
before this version came out, I saw Steelwind at GAMH (band that Craig Chaquico was in before the Starship) and they did this song. Somehow they picked up on this song before Linda released it. It sounded real good, either way!

--and coming. Another one for Linda, only in the Db twice before.
-
As a kid, that SNL sketch actually scared me. Since I wasn't allowed to watch the Exorcist, that was enough to rattle my security.
-
dunno where that Exorcist parody (2 years after the movie?) is from.
I dunno either, but I'm gonna go out on a limb & say it's from the first season of SNL.

it's a '60s R&B song (Betty Everett), so it wasn't new.

Tubes "What Do You Want From Life"
Heavy ripoff from Zappa's "Does This Kind of Life Look Interesting to You?"

We HAVE the technology! and the cross-promotional toys!
OMGWTF! BOS7 Toooooobs! And a baby's arm holding an apple!

wow, cable TV in 1975. And to think I just got my converter box. I am behind the curve, man.
-
we're verging on 1-way tie territory. But the Tubes' WDYWFL will doubtlessly win the Foghead vote, as it has each of the three previous times it got played.
-
heh, he said "Polly bend 'em"

OMFG! Finally -- "Life is a Minestrone"!!! BOS8 10cc, Best of Month for me. Annalisa I LURVE you!!

and "Buffalo Stance" and "My Brave Face" and...
But seriously I'm gobsmacked. I've been trying to get "Minestrone" from DM for 18 years!
Im dancing on the white house lawn
Sipping tea by the taj mahal at dawn
Hanging round the gardens of babylon
Minnie mouse has got it all sewn up
She gets more fan mail than the pope
She takes the mickey out of all my phobias
Like signing cheques to ward off double pneumonia
Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze
Im leaning on the tower of pisa
Had an eyeful of the tower in france
Im hanging round the gardens of babylon
And the seat of learning
And the flush of success
Relieves a constipated mind
Im like a gourmet in a skid row diner
A fitting menu for a dilettante
Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze
Love is a fire of flaming brandy
Upon a crepe suzette
Lets get this romance cooking, honey
But let us not forget
Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze

I emailed a BOS to AL for 10cc, and told her I'd been trying to get Dave to play it for 18 years, so she had made my day/week/month. She wrote back almost immediately to thank me, she wasn't sure if anyone remembered it since she's never heard it on the radio here.
-
Wow, sounds like I missed a pretty superb set. Hope I can get home tonight in time for the replay. 'Cause I doubt I'll be up at 7am on Saturday for that one!
I've e-mailed Annalisa a couple times since she took over and got responses to both! And one was just a BOS vote last Friday wherein I complimented her on the set overall, segues, etc. So either she's not getting a lot of feedback from the audience, or she's spending a LOT of time answering email.
Btw, I did tell her about our board and gave her the URL and she promised to check us out, so don't be surprised if she comments on air about something we post.

may be the latter -- remember, Greg told shray that she was very "chatty" (which was a nightmare for Greg when she used to sub for Dave -- he couldn't get her off the phones! -- oops, we kid, Annalisa, we kid!)

Just noticed that the above list has the Doobie Bros in both the #1 and #10 slots--now that's a first. Does AL have a new intern or something?
Damn fine set so far however--we're mid-Tangled Up as I type this. Looking forward to the Tubes, Beck, and 10cc. Queen would get my BOS so far.

Thanks Jim!

Database bustouts from this set:
Little Feat
Springsteen (which shocks me no end)
10cc
The Beck and Queen tunes are making their debut in year-based sets. Previously they had appeared only in Strictly Instrumental and CAR-tunes sets, respectively. And this is only the fourth appearance (and second in a '75 set) for WDYWFL,
Was amazed at how many times 10cc has appeared in various sets (46), and how few tunes there are comprising those appearances (6). Blackmail and Good Morning Judge are the most plentiful of those, with 11 apiece.

It was Lenny Bruce, wasn't it?
Yup. Which I didn't know until someone in the Clubhouse (probably Mike) mentioned it in a previous WDYWFL appearance. For which I was ever grateful. I've still never seen an actual Lenny Bruce live sketch - surely I could remedy that via YouTube.
BOS to George at his giddyest, another in my someday-wedding mix.

his stand-up stuff is on CD, dude. And it's brilliant and very political. You would love, methinks
