So hard to have any kind of a guess where AL's going to go.
Not where I would have hoped, but that's my old school instincts kicking in.
TFF leads off.

"Break It Down Again" is a solid 1993 Katrina.

Well, the band, anyway. :-\

eta: 1970!!! I'm heading there for some Chicago action. Make Me Smile

Really? I must really tune out '93 sets.

Hot House Flowers aren't my favorite group, but I do like "Thing Of Beauty". BOS #1
ETA: and it's a bustout even. I know Ginger used to play this.

Gosh, it is them. And I was gonna blame this extremely repetitive song on the Call.

sounded like the Call's overly serious tone to me too!
-
Yikes. Bjork. Points for coloring outside the lines, but I never got her aesthetic.
-
And I'm thinking #3 is either Bjork or the Sugarcubes (same diff).
Neither turn up in the DB, so either way it's a bustout.
-

Dave must not have either, as he never played her nor the Sugarcubes.
-
BOS to Gin Blossoms, surprise, surprise. I wanted to be able to write songs like this.
-
But he sure as hell played the Gin Blossoms. This set has the makings of being AL's first real turkey.
-
Wailing Souls, "Shark Attack," says my media player. NTM.

BOS so far for me, which says something about how I feel about 1993
-
BOS2 for WSP 4 me, but I'm personally prejudiced.

I like Shark Attack, though I'm not sure why.
I REALLY like Widespread Panic. BOS for "Picking Up the Pieces". (No, not THOSE pieces.)
-

Another one that Ginger played, but I see that Dave played it twice as well.

Wish I could say I agree with you, but never got this band. Still firmly in turkeyville here.

Picking up the pieces after a shark attack, you mean? Yeah, that'd be unpleasant.
-
HM to Porno for Pyros, "Pets." Of their ouevre, I far prefer "Tahitian Moon," which I think was early '95.

Nah, I just meant the AWB's song of the same name.
BOS for Porno for Pyros. Think I caught a couple F's in there near the beginning.
-
Another BOS for "Pets", another couple of guys that I met in my limo-driving days.
-

don't care much for the song as a whole, especially the guitar solo, but I liked the opening bass guitar sequence.
-
WOS to Grumpy Old Man Hiatt.
-
Funny to hear Beavis and Butthead on Letterman. Woulda liked to hear a little more, but maybe it, like, sucked.
-
HM for John Hiatt's Perfectly Good Guitar. Has he had much radio play since this one?
-
BOS3 for John Hiatt. The riff is pretty generic, but harmonious with the theme of the song.
-
WOS to Grumpy Old Man Hiatt.
;) ::) :D

I just looked up the Sugarcubes bio...you can't make this shit up:
When they hit big with their first album, the lineup was Bjork Gudmundsdottir (vocals), her husband Thor Eldon (guitar), Einar Benediktsson (vocals/guitar), Bragi Olafesson (bass), Siggi Baldursson (drums), Einar Mellax (keyboards).
And then...(per AMG)..."by the time the group recorded its second album, Thor had divorced Björk and married Magga Ornolfsdottir, who became the group's keyboardist after Einar Mellax left. Furthermore, Olafesson divorced his wife — who happened to be the twin sister of Baldursson's wife — and married Benediktsson, making their union the first openly gay marriage in pop music."

stream is sucking, at a similar point to yesterday

Another HM for Cracker, Low. Another one that Dave once played.
-
BOS #3 Cracker "Low".
...like some junkie cosmonaut.
-
Another HM for Cracker, Low. Another one that Dave once played.
I'd say today's set is a good example of a bifurcated response. Some of us dig the songs some of you think suck, and vice versa.
-
Second half of set doing nicely with Cracker.
-
Another HM for Cracker, Low. Another one that Dave once played.

It def. sounds like '93, to my ears, but just nothing here that I was enthusiastic about then, or now. Just a requisite level of mediocrity. Which was kinda the problem with the AAA format, then and now.
So it's mostly HMs across the board from me, but nary a BOS in the bunch.
-
I like BoDeans, so one more BOS. I think I've mentioned, a childhood friend dated Kurt Neuman for a few years. She's now a published novelist & teaches Lit at Univ of New Orleans. She's also gorgeous.

Amanda Boyden (nee Buege...and it was always Amy growing up). I added a link to her 2nd novel to my earlier post. Her husband Joseph Boyden is also a published novelist & also teaches lit at UNO. His first novel was really awesome.

Shoulda come to The Sound: They just did the loooong Ennio Morricone version of Fleetwood Mac's Oh Well.

that's of interest to me; do they do a rebroadcast?

yeah, that's what I get for trying to give AL the benefit of the doubt. She pulled a decent 95 set out for her debut last week but this one seems to be not so much. Hrm.
-

I am SO glad to hear I'm not alone in that! And she seems to be a gay fave in my experience so I'm doubly pleased we're in agreement.

This was a KFOG playlist staple in '93. I remain utterly astounded that they don't play this at Sharks games.

I wonder if they ever played BÖC's Shooting Shark... but not quite the same feel of the raggae, mon.

IIRC, there's a Split Enz song with the same name, but I would not expect many Sharks fans to recognize it.

I fear you are correct. And while I've no desire to catch this one on the replay, I'll give AL kudos for that (apparently) Moreyesque seg from "Don't Ask Don't Tell" to "Human Behavior".

Indeed, I didn't catch it during the set but noticed it in the setlist and meant to comment. Well bowled.

Thankfully I missed both. I hate both years of that music.
