After 74, 80, and 77, have to assume late 80s or 90s is practically a certainty.
ETA: 1981! Wow, are they skewing the selection away from the late 80s or something? I'm speechless!

I'll stay here. Vacuum cleanah sucks up Budgie.
btw, The Sound LA is doing 91 and started off with Big Audio Dynamite. don't know the song
-
This one must go back a ways--no sets in the DB that lead with Magnificent 7. So it's anyone's guess what's coming up.
VHM Is That Love?

wow, given what a Katrina M-7 is, that's amazing.

Flash! It's a crapfest! But when Freddie sings that part about "he's a man... just a man..." you can just about hear him drooling.

Ah! Leah!

Go Donnie! BOS
-
VHM for Donnie Iris, no outright BOS candidates yet though.

Go Donnie! BOS
Yep. A great song, still. Got a lot of the lunatic fringe in there, or vice versa.

Don't be petty. Or Petty.

BOS2 to Wapture, even if I can't understand a word she's wapping at us.

BOS2 to Wapture, even if I can't understand a word she's wapping at us.
Fab Five Feddy told me everybody's fly
Deejay's spinnin', I said "My My!"

Hide your cars, bars, guitars, and anything else that rhymes. Here comes the Man From Mars. Is this possibly the worst rap ever to chart so highly?
(Note, the Tom Scott multitrack horn chart.)

oh yeah, i got that. I guess I meant the non-wapped part (i.e. the singing part)

Worse than "Ice Ice baby"? I think not. Don't forget Sir Mix-a-Lot (apologies to Beej)

Well, I'll grant you that "sacroiliac" is difficult to fathom when the person saying it has a speech impediment...
Toe to toe,
Dancing very slow,
Barely breathing,
Almost comatose.
Wall to wall,
People hypnotized,
And they're stepping,
Lightly,
Hang each night in
Rapture.
Back to back,
Sacroiliac,
Spinless movement,
And a wild attack.
Face to face,
Sadly solitude,
And it's finger
Popping.
Twenty-four hour shopping,
In Rapture.

BOS rare U2. Bono before he was God.
-
No "sigh-ah-lence" from me: BOS2-BOS2, Go-Go's.
-

Silliest, sure, but by no means worst. For worst, I'd say anything by Puff Daddy, probably "I'll Be Missing You."
Meanwhile, BOS to the Go-Gos for no particular reason. A nice but unspectacular set.

The Go-Gos get the "Most 81 of Set" for me.

Yo VIP let's kick it
Ice ice baby (x2)
All right stop collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly # huh???
Will it ever stop yo I don't know
Turn off the lights and I'll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle
Dance go rush to the speaker that booms
I'm killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it you better gain weight
You better hit bull's eye the kid don't play
If there was a problem yo I'll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it
CHORUS
Ice ice baby vanillla (x4)
extra points for using "poisonous mushroom"

Yes! thank you, I'd blocked that one from memory; one of the worst singles of the '90s of any stripe.
-
Wow, quick set. But for some reason nothing really hit with me. On the other hand, nothing made me gag, either. If I have to pick a BOS it'd be either the Squeeze or Donnie Iris tunes.

If we get another '90s Friday tomorrow then a pattern will have emerged. Dave's done a couple of here-comes-the-weekend sets before a holiday, and he even did a pre-summer set for the Fri before Mem'l Day a few years back. Wonder if we might get one of those.
