Damn, that's a big shock. I'm not even close to a basketball fan, but he played for the Kings when I lived in Sacramento and was a big ambassador for the team, on and off the court. Lots of community involvement, and never anything close to a scandal or an ungracious comment to the press. And he was supposedly a pretty good bassist, too. 44 is far too young to go. RIP.

Very sad.  I heard him interviewed a few months back by Dave Koz on KKSF, and he talked abot the cancer & losing his leg.  Very upbeat guy. I heard a lot of his music on KKSF over the years. 

He was 2 yrs younger than me (yikes!)

I had about two degrees of separation, as he played a bass made by a friend of mine, and was a friend of another bassist I knew.  I knew nothing about his basketball career.
