starting off with the Mighty Zep!
actually this is song # 2... things started about 5 min early today with Bob Seger, "Beautiful Loser"
-
Woo Hoo! BOS Sweet, "Fox on the Run"!
-
that was a funny sweep with the Hoffa disappearance clips mixed in with "You'll Never Find... (Another Love Like Mine)"
Oooooh, Sweet sounding oh so sweet, "Fox On The Run".
-
It's rare I get two tracks in a row that I don't recognize -- but I don't know who did that "Part of the Plan" song (it sounded a tad like Alan Parsons, but he wasn't recording his own stuff this early, was he?) and I'm lost on this one ("Silver and Gold"?) with vocals faintly reminiscent of John Waite. What we got?!
-
"Silver, Blue & Gold", BOS #2.
for my money Bad Company was better at this rock ballad kind of stuff than the strict hard rock-cum-pop stuff.
In any case this is my favorite song of theirs, followed closely by "Seagull".

Part of the Plan was Fogelberg, this is Bad Company.
ETA: That's what you get for being 2 yrs old at the time!

The former, I can see -- but I *never* would have pegged this for Paul Rodgers and gang.

fwiw, we could also hear Parsons in this set, their great debut album Tales Of Mystery & Imagination came out in '75, and I reckon it was more popular in Chicagoland than maybe some other places (it sure got ample airplay in St. Louis).

"the cheatin' side of town" -- That must be where the Sad Cafe is.
-
"you're still the same old girl you used to be" -- wow, maybe it's just my anti-Glenn-Frey streak, but that line felt really misogynistic.

maybe my fave BC song too, despite that ugly silver album cover. (This was from that LP, yes?)

I used to think that the POV of the songwriter here was 3rd person omniscient, but I've come to think that it's actually 3rd person-former boyfriend. I.e. the singer was the guy she dumped to marry the rich older guy. Now he sees her cheating on her husband with some other young stud, but he's mostly bitter that she left him in the first place.

I do believe that was a '76 release, but it's a great LP and I agree, Bob's far more likely to play it than Dave. Got quite a bit of NYC airplay too.

HOORAY!!!! BBBBBOS TO "RHINESTONE COWBOY"!!!!
(blissed-out Gaz)
-
BOS2 "Rhinestone Cowboy"! Yee-haw!

From Run With The Pack, which was silver and had a drawing of a wolf-bitch suckling her brood.
And guess what, the release date is shown as January '76. Chalk one up for Bob!

No, it was released in '75, but like the Boston album the next year it stayed under the radar for months before picking up steam.

I thought '75 seemed early -- I remember playing "Young Blood" (the hit off of it) at my college station and I wasn't on-air there until '76.
