But what's the year? I don't think there's a 420 set in the archives, ever.
ETA: But starting with a reggae song sorta goes with the rasta vibe, irie?
ETA2: This is the second time we've hit '73 in a week and a half--more evidence they're asleep at the switch over on Hawthorne St.

Dave did a "drug songs" set once...
But here's Johnny nash stirring it up -- some ganja, mon?

Pretty good start to whatever it is, with Johnny Nash making reggae safe for white people.

BTW, we just did '73 10 days ago -- and we heard this Dr John tune then -- so they're still clueless, rotation-wise. But this is one year I won't complain about being overexposed.

And of the two '73 sets in the archive that lead with Johnny Nash, this is the better of the two, imo.
Now if you'll pardon me a minute, I'm gonna go get a little brain salad surgery....

surprise, I'm present for the set. Shambala indeed

OMGWTFLOL! BOS BW Stevenson's version of "Shambala"!!

Hey, long time no see, at least during the 10am hour! Got the day off today?
BOS1 Shambala & B.W. Stevenson!
-
BOS2 Mahvelous Mahvin -- he a "Trouble man", y'all.

Lovin' the Schifrin-esque horn charts on Trouble Man. BOS2.
-
OMGWTFLOL! BOS BW Stevenson's version of "Shambala"!!
Dang, dude died at 38 during heart valve surgery. And I had no idea this was the original version. Not sure I've even heard it before.
And always good to hear marvelous Marvin and "Trouble Man".

"My Maria" was sort of a make-good on radio's part, since they went with the 3DN version of "Shambala".
-
BOS3 the mighty 'berries, "Tonight" -- I said this recently: how did this miss being a Top 40 hit?
-
Rocking with the Raspberries' "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight", or words to that effect.
Oooh, Mmmmh, keep on doin' it, Barry!

he just wants to make her feel good inside. (with his pink torpedo, no doubt)

Oooh, Mmmmh, keep on doin' it, Barry!
quittin' jus' ain't his "stick". And neither is Yiddish, obviously.

I've always gotten a kick out of that. It's my favorite Barry song; gotta love the harpsichord.

So, is this one of the sets in the shraytabase, urth? or is it an uber-oldie? (I can't recall when Dave played the BW Stevenson track but it must be it's only appearance ever).
BOS4 Miss Ross and the dreamy Billy Dee. As I said recently when we heard this on Classic Kasem, she's not Billie Holliday, but this is a lovely version of "GMH"
-
If ya want Tricky Dick to stay... you're a Republican.

TANC: Just saw the McKean-Guest-Shearer "unwigged" show last night in PDX. Very funny. Sittin' front row didn't hurt any though.
Btw, Tonight is only in the DB twice in 73--within about 6 weeks of each other in 2004. And the Diana Ross song only shows up twice, too.
-
VHM and proxy of Gaz, Sly.

I'm going on Wednesday. No front row though - front of the balcony.

Yeah. I had a great time Thursday and Sunday but disappointing games. MUST win in Anaheim. No more round 1 games for me. Maybe 7 if it comes to pass and I hope for Round 2.
eta: Saw Drew both nights. He's friendly now. Probably thinks I'm a stalker! He signed the pic of me kissing his cheek! :-*

Both, sorta. It's shown as a classic on September 30, 2004, but no telling when it first aired. And yes, this is the only appearance of Stevenson's version of Shambala in the DB.

Cover of the Easybeats, izzat? I've never heard!
Much goodness in this set on the replay, but thanks for the Sly proxy, which is where my vote would have gone.

Yes, it was the same song. I even saw them live once during the Winterland Tuesday night local music series. They were funny, kind of Spinal Tap before Spinal Tap!
