this does not appear in the Db as a TotHK, so I have no idea what we're in store for.  But it's '73 in LA, and they're getting the obligatory Floyd tune out of the way early.

For a second there, I thought you *did* say "er, again?" Guess I was imagining it! ;)

BOS1 Bowie, diggin' the Sound & Vision.

Well, I'll be gah-damned. This set's not in the DB, so whatever we hear is going to be a surprise, just like olden days.

I love how S&V takes a good minute until Bowie's voice kicks in.  Great production on this song.

Can't imagine what I'd hear in '77 (save maybe for the Bowie) that would trump '73, so I'm headed south.

Nothing against 1977, but I'm sticking in LA as well, as I will hear this set for sure on Saturday morning & tune #3 down there right now is Basketball Jones!!!!

the 'wobbly' GD song comes perhaps from the 7/4 time signature, and the use of the MuTron envelope follower pedal Garcia uses (copied later by the New Bohemians)

3/31/09 - Tuesday!  The Big Wheel Stops on...1977!!!
   1.  David Bowie - Sound & Vision
   2.  Foreigner - Feels Like the First Time
   3.  Elvis Costello - Radio Sweetheart
   4.  Ozark Mountain Daredevils - You Know Like I Know
   5.  Fleetwood Mac - Never Going Back Again
   6.  Q - Dancing Man
   7.  Steely Dan - Black Cow
   8.  Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band - Cherchez La Femme
        (BEST OF SET!!)
   9.  Grateful Dead - Estimated Prophet
  10.  Boz Scaggs - Lido Shuffle
BONUS TRACK:  Marvin Gaye - Got to Give it Up

Ha Ha, I heard that in my car too!  I guess it pays to have to go somewhere at 11:00 all the time.

quite an exemplary set, now that I look at the list -- only the Foreigner and Boz Scaggs are what I'd call overexposed classic rock cuts. One of Dave's better '77 excursions.

Wonderful set. I heard it while out and about and will be here for the replay tonight.
I was on the board in spirit. I miss you guys! I will not have internet access during the day at all anymore unless it's my day off. Replays (which truly are replays now) will have to suffice for the time being.

Dropped back in for the replay as well, and am really digging hearing Black Cow. The epitome of smooth--just love the horn charts on this. Tom Scott iirc, and maybe Pete Christlieb? (We'll hear Scott again on the Dead tune in a couple minutes.)

Ali, sounds like things went well during your training, but drag that you won't have access during the day. Maybe they'll give you a BlackBerry eventually?

you're welcome.  That makes me feel just a tad less than the usual treasure trove of useless information I feel like!
