The New Orleans pianist was a contemporary of Professor Longhair. He died of a heart attack last week.

KPOO's Monday nite oldies guy played a bunch of his stuff last nite -- including his song "I'm Wise", which Little Richard recorded as "Slippin' and Slidin'". I didn't realize "Check Mr Popeye" was one of his; Southside Johnny covered that on their 2nd LP.
