early BOS the Romantics: overplayed as it may be, it's one of the best singles ever to just miss making the Top 40.

a majorly fun song, to be sure, but (imho) it doesn't bear close scrutiny.

"I'm gonna pack my Pa, I'm gonna pack my aunt.
I'm gonna take 'em down to the Cadillac Ranch."

WTF?????

Agreed, undoubtedly the best #49 song ever, edging out The La's "There She Goes".

Thanks for making me look prescient Bob!

Never heard this version before.  I assume this is Manfred Mann going for a hat trick on his coattails?

you are correct sir!

WOS: Eagles, trying to squeeze blood from a stone. From Eagles Live!, or as a friend used to call it, Eagles Overdubbed!

Can't agree.  I saw them on this tour, and when they sang this song it totally brought the house down.  They sounded awesome, not overdubbed.

a short but fine 1980 set, mainly due to the Zevon, which I don't think Dave's ever played.

Memo to Bob: it's "scary monsters and super creeps".

they weren't overdubbed in person, (and maybe not on that particular track) but generally the album has a lot of "sweetening", or so I'm told.
