Too bad Pat Boone's demolition of "Tutti Frutti" didn't include Little Richard's original lyrics about buttsex.

I know, tough choice today.

BTW, this set is not in the Db, but I think I remember it.  I think Pat Boone's "Enter Sandman" is tune #10.

Faith Hill's "Piece of My Heart" may have been insipid and unnecessary, but it's hardly hellish.

This was the last time Good Friday was on the 13th (see, these songs are covers so they're being "resurrected", get it?)

I still love Faith Hill's countrified "Piece of My Heart" -- clever and ballsy to do this, IMHO.

The funny thing, or a funny thing anyway, is that the worst thing about Shatner's LitSwD isn't him, it's the backing vocals.  They suck!

On a related note, I recently watched part of a Styx w/ some national youth orchestra concert on Palladia (the hi-def music channel on Comcast cable -- last night they were showing The Song Remains the Same).  The Styx thing was pretty entertaining.  The best part was watching the kids in the orchestra -- they were having a blast.

I miss my French Horn.  :'(

One of the RARE times a current record got played on HFHs. And well-deserved -- Pearl Jam's horrid cover of a horrid song that didn't deserve to be covered in the first place.

They used that as a sound check warmer upper, and one day decided to give out on their website to their fans.  And the rest is history.  I dislike it as well, but that's a pretty interesting origin story.

Did she say "our love become a flaming pie"?

Ooh, very short version.  Or maybe that's the only version.

Glad he didn't play Jose's version, cause it's great, and the one I heard first.

Best WOS to Pat Boone!

The AMG review:

Before finding God and Gospel, Pat Boone first made a living in the '50s gumming his way through early rock & roll and rhythm & blues covers, turning out risible whitebread pap for the masses. Boone would now have us believe, 40 years on, that he has lost religion to suddenly embrace the mighty masters of metal. There is no logical reason for human beings to deliberately expose themselves to Mr. Boone's new wash-off tattoo, Harley fixation, and deadpan milktoast delivery as he, his cookie-cutter female background chorus, and underachieving big band samba their way to Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water," and jive to Guns N' Roses' "Paradise City," and swing through the most ludicrous read imaginable of Metallica's "Enter Sandman." Other abominations include Alice Cooper's "No More Mr. Nice Guy," Ozzie's "Crazy Train" and that ultimate nightclub closer...(wait for it)...Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven."

I remember reading about when it originally played that someone said Sinatra's version of "Mrs. Robinson" sounded like Joe Piscopo imitating Frank Sinatra.

Very clever moniker there. Following in the footsteps of a midwestern band that called itself Enormous Richard.
