'70 on a Wednesday! Woo Hoo!
-
2-16-2007 if you want to check it out.
BOS #2 the 'Oo!
BOS #1 Buddy Miles
-
Nice--after the last two days 80s and 90s excursions, had to figure we were goin' 70s today.
And BOS to the Badfinger and Who songs so far. And more to come.
-
Fittingly, there's no competition from The Sound today, as they are doing Album Sides Wednesday.
-
I'll give BOS to "No Soup Left for You." Was immensely popular on 3WS in Pittsburgh growing up, and then I probably did not hear it a single time in the '90s.
-
the 'oo and the Guess 'oo! you need not wonder why we love this decade.
-
I hope "No Time" isn't an omen. I'm supposed to have a 10:00 mtg, but one of the two co-workers hasn't shown up yet. When he does I'll have to split.
BOS #3 for the Guess 'Oo. All we need is some Yes & we'll have a comedy sketch on our hands!
-
It just isn't 1970 until Dave goes Dutch.
-
Ma Bellamy! What a sweet old lady she was...

Better old lady Bellamy than the godness on the mountaintop.
-

Ron's momma.

I always get a kick out of that cheezy song. There's a very goofy video for it too, with the band in a huge scaffold, a la Hollywood Squares.

or Ralph's. or Bill's.

What and who is this? Iron Butterfly?
-
if you want it here it is, but you better hurry 'cause you've got NO TIME...
-
What and who is this? Iron Butterfly?
If mimes played heavy metal, it might sound like this
-
What and who is this? Iron Butterfly?
it has wings, but atually it's Crow "Cottage Cheese"
ETA: according to the Db setlist, both this & Buddy Miles were vinyl tracks.
-
BOS S&G (for rarity if nothing else)
-

I'd rather be a Crow than an Iron Butterfly... BOS S&G
BTW, the other nite The Bone screwed up and started Li'l Steven's show 2 mins early, so of course it ended at 10:40 and to get themselves back on track (so that Joel Selvin could start on time at 11pm) they played the full 17-minutes of "Inna Gadda Da Vida"!

sounds purty, but did this make KMTT's "Rip-Off Countdown"?

This is one rocking set!

Izzis Fleetwood Mac?
-
Izzis Fleetwood Mac?
ayup, Green Manalishi, an old Dave fave for St. Pat's sets.
actually the next song is green as well.
-
hendrix said that when he died, he wanted peoipel to "Freak Out" -- funny how that phrase came to mean something dregoatory. Remember when letting your freak flag fly was a good thing? now it means you can't control yourself.
Speaking of Freaks: BOS to Peter's "Green Manalishi" -- not to be confused with Dr. Manahattan's Enormous Blue Penis.

and it's a "green" twin-spin!
-
And now, back to the Netherlands! A pretty credible Jackie Wilson impression. I have a feeling I've said this before.

Victrola JINX! But you get frink points for the visual aid.

I assume you liked Diving bell/Butterfly? That actor should play Roman Polanski in a biopic.

Yes, I found it quite...well, imaginative. And full of beautiful ladies! Spot on about the Polanski, you are!

Damn it. Got called away before the last 2 songs. GBS woulda been my overall BOS. But even 80% of a 1970 set is better than anything the past two days, here or in LA.
The new co-worker is rapidly turning into a cow-orker. Well-meaning and friendly, but a little slow on the uptake & likes to have things explained multiple times. Time consuming, but he is senior to me so I can't make a fuss.

catching up on the posts I missed, guy's name is Julian Schnable, right? Rather German name for a prominent French actor. He was very good in Munich, too.

No - Julian Schnable is a director. This guy's name is Mathieu something. Who was he in Munich? I don't remember. Oh, I suppose I can go look it up...wait, was he the bomb guy who committed suicide?

Schnabel was the director. The actor is Mathieu Amalric. He was also the villain in the recent Bond flick and was in A Christmas Tale with Catherine Deneuve (which i highly recommend to the princess).

I'll watch anything that involves Deneuve and tail. ;)

3/11/09 - Midweek! A ten tune trip to...1970!!!
1. Buddy Miles - Them Changes (vinyl!)
2. Badfinger - Come and Get it (BEST OF SET!!)
3. The Who - Shakin' All Over
4. Guess Who - No Time
5. The Tee Set - My Belle Amie
6. Crow - Cottage Cheese (vinyl!)
7. Simon & Garfunkel - El Condor Pasa
8. Fleetwood Mac - The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)
9. George Baker Selection - Little Green Bag
10. CCR - Lookin' Out My Back Door
BONUS TRACK: George Harrison - My Sweet Lord
Methinks this was our "old" year of the week; I'm guessing a late-'80s set tomorrow (tho' I'd love to be wrong) and presumably HFHs on Friday.

His character Louis was the contact that Avner (Eric Bana) used to get information from "The Family", which was headed by Michael Lonsdale, himself a former bond villain. And for more James Bond connections, don't forget that Daniel Craig was on Avner's team - he was the South African Jew & only other team member to survive. And then the female assassin in Munich was also in The Diving Bell & The Butterfly. She knocked of Cieran Hinds' character, and he has become absolutley ubiquitous since then. So lots of the cast of Munich have gone on to bigger & better things. Except Eric Bana.

well, he DID get to get nekkid with ScarJo in The Other Boleyn Girl. And he's in the new Star Trek reboot.
-
Had to check if my last statement is true, and guess what? Eric Bana is the bad guy in the new Star Trek movie.
And Simon Pegg is Scotty (!)
John Cho (Harold of Harold & Kumar fame) is Sulu
Karl Urban (Eomer in LotR, the Russian killer in Bourne Supremacy) is Bones
and...wait for it...Wynona Ryder is Amanda Grayson.

I KNEW it. I was on the road for the set and just KNEW we'd get a Ma Bellamy ref outta ya.
-

Here ya go: Gazoo's Bonus Track (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyvWRjL6Zsg). (Song doesn't start until almost 2 minutes in, but it's a live clip.)
