Title: 3 February 2009--it's...a whole lot of dead air (1986)
Post by: urth on February 03, 2009, 10:02:19 AM
Or did my stream crash at the wrong moment?

Ah, there it goes. Came back during the intro to Van Hagar's Why Can't This Be Love, so I'm guessing we're in '86.

I'm hearing VH, "Why Can't This Be Love"

which means this is '86 for the 2nd time in less than 3 weeks.

me too.  Stream crashed, and now I'm hearing late 80s (?) Van Hagar's:  Why Can't This Be 1972 Love?

There must have been a more basic issue -- the radio started of with dead air too.

Well maybe not, tune #2 woulda been "Swallowed By The Cracks" and at first I though that's what this was.  Still sounds like it could be David+David though.

Yep, this is "Ain't So Easy", which means this set predates the Db.

Yeah, that was my thought as well. Btw, Mark, VH's WCTBL is entered in the DB three different ways: with and without the question mark, and the third has a "smart" apostrophe in "can't" as opposed to a straight one.

Yep, but the third song matches 9/10/08, so maybe we just got the wrong D+D song in the DB.

It's a Slovenian film I saw last night on television (dubbed in Spanish, of course). Quite good! I saw [em]Milk[/em] on Saturday - cried from beginning to end. Only five more films to see before Oscar time!

I think I might like Everybody Have Fun Tonite if it were built on something a little more than two lines, which differ by only two words, two of which are either gibberish or Chinese depending on your fluency. Still, I can see why it was popular--probably led to a lot of suggestive hip thrusting and who knows what else in the dance clubs of 1986.

I added the question mark where it was lacking and made the curly apostrophe straight in mine--assume you did the same?

I couldn't stand the song then. It's just now beginning to grow on me. Probably because I can understand things like Mike's Povich joke now. It's still a ridiculous song, though.

And I would have used the condom on Wang, of course!

I had meant to post this earlier, that I'd checked the original thread & none of us caught on to this back on that day.  Now I see why not.
