I remember this set -- Dave accidentally started "Lonely Boy", then switched to Frampton.  Someone dropped a cup and startled Dave.

Nope, just once (in September), and not at all between this set & then.

Was hoping someone else caught that. Thought I was losing it for a sec.

My cat loves this song -- well, I MAKE her love it by forcing her to dance with me.  Not that I'm weird or anything.  I'm just sayin'.

oh my yes...!  one of my all-time fave rave-ups!  I love the high hat right in the twin lead guitar break.  Drums are great, gee-tars are great, Phil is/was great.

Sounded fine here. But that Laverne and Shirley promo sounded like someone recorded it with a Realistic cassette player and a single-point mic.

VHM Lady Cliff.

And BOS to the ELO, before I forget.

I had the same experience as Urth, ELO was okay but the L&S clip sounded horrible.

LOL! Something I would've done when I was 9 or 10, but in '76 Dave was twentysomething -- surely he could've bought the 45 of "Happy Days".

Now the Trammps tune sounds pretty midrange-y.

heehee, I used to put my cassette recorder (I think it was from Realistic, btw) up next to the TV and record Sat Night Live shows.  these "Lo-Noise Cassettes" are long gone, unfortunately.

Major sledgehammer from the Seger tune, not to any specific event but just to the state of being 16.

I was gonna say nearly the same thing, though I was only 12.  I still don't get the first verse, though.  One line in particular...

I was a little too tall
Couldve used a few pounds
Tight pants points hardly renown
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high

Tight pants points hardly renown?  Huh?

from the website segerfiles.com:

One reference in "Night Moves" is widely misunderstood. I'm fairly certain that everyone under 40 thinks that in "tight pants points hardly renowned," Seger is referring to his crotch. (After all, "points all her own" clearly refers to the woman's nipples, or at least breasts.)

But the first "points" reference isn't anatomical. He's singing "Tight pants, points, hardly renowned" -- meaning, his tight pants are hardly renowned, and his points are hardly renowned. What are points? Little metal things worn on your shoes by high school rebels in the late 50s and early 60s.

I like this summary: he's dressed up like an adult, in his tight pants, "Points" (boots?) but he's still a fledgling.

meaning, his tight pants are hardly renowned, and his points are hardly renowned.

I would clarify that a little and say that although he tries to be cool w the pants and his points, it is HE who is hardly renowned, not the pants and the points themselves.

Unless he is wearing plain pockets and generic homemade points.

"Hey, is that Bob?"

"Sure is, but what is he wearing?  those jeans and points are hardly worth being widely acclaimed and/or highly honored."

"He must be on the welfare."

the whole inserting-"the"-where-it-doesn't-belong thing just never seems to go away. I remember as a kid having elderly relatives who would say they were going to "the Safeway" instead of just Safeway. It's an old people thing, I guess.

geographical, too?  Socal residents refer to "the 5" or "the 110 freeway" where Norcals tend to drop the "the"

In the midwest both old rural white people and urban black people sometimes append a 'the' to ailments.  "She's got the cancer."  "My uncle has the alzheimers disease."  Of course a lot of urban african americans will even change that to 'the old-timers disease'.
