WTF-of-the-Day: KPOO's DJ Marilynn is playing Eartha Kitt singing "Come-On-a My House" -- in Japanese! Awesome.
-
total delight: Marilynn plays "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray.
"yesterday is history
and it ain't comin' back"
An appropriate number, as Lawrence Welk used to say.

FYI, NYC's oldies outlet CBS-FM is doing their A-to-Z Countdown again (by popular demand):
http://www.wcbsfm.com/
It was really quite wonderful when they did it in July; apparently it's been revised this time to include some Xmas tunes.

They're doing Neal Sedaka's "Bad Blood" right now...
eta: will report on the use of the word "bitch"
there it is, right there in public! "The bitch is in her smile."

glad I switched over to KPOO after Bob -- JJ's doing a date-specific 40-years-ago-today show; he'll be counting down the top 5 soul songs shortly.

1. Who's Makin' Love (Johnny Taylor)
2. I'm a Fool For ya (Impressions)
3. Little Green Apples (OC Smith)
4. Always Together (Dells)
5. Funky Judge (Bull & the Matadors)
Hitbound/Sure Shot/Pick to Click: Rockin' in the Same Old Boat (Bobby "Blue" Bland)
great stuff!

listening to the CBS-FM "A to Z" thingy -- just got the Ronettes and Shaun Cassidy "Da Doo Ron Ron"s back-to-back.

So you were like "Yeah!!" ... (~2:45 pause) "Blecch."
-
'LNG Nugget: Boyce & Hart's fab "Alice Long". And now naughty Melanie looks for a really big, er, key.
-
OMG! Jeannie C Riley takes on those Harper Valley hypocrites!
-
Salute to Obama or Amazing Coincidence? WLNG plays JB, "Say it Loud (I'm Black & I'm Proud)". Which makes me wonder if Dave may do a "Welcome Obama" set tomorrow -- not unlike the "what songs would you put on Bush's IPod?" set a few years back..
And here's "Fox on the Run" -- shall we dedicate this to Palin?
followed by a Gaz fave: TinTin's more-BeeGees-than-the-BeeGees "Toast & Marmalade" Why does that instrument they're playing sound warped?

They and Maurice were playing around in the studio, stretched and warped the tape a bit, and liked the effect - so they did it some more. I think it verges on ruining the song.

I agree.

Over to London's Heart Radio for "Club Classics" -- here's Crystal Waters awful "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)", which I haven't heard since the early '90s, thankfully. lah-dah-dee, lah-doo-dow.
-
TANC -- London's Heart plays the other Shannon! "Let the Music Play" indeed!

TANC2: Gaz's non-fave Stacy Lattisaw, "Jump to the Beat"
-
oo! CeCe Peniston, "Fi-nah-LEE". And earlier we heard Robin S's "Show Me Love" -- I used to get the 2 confused. Either one would brighten a Morey set from their respective years.
