BOS Smiths, "Ask" -- good start to what is one of Dave's worst years, traditionally.

Hey Mark, you had the wrong date (20 Oct instead of 21) on yesterday's thread; I just noticed it now.

This set started off well, but it's pretty much ground to a halt now.

ETA: I can muster a VHM for Jesus & Mary Chain, but still hoping for something more interesting.

he's a world class talk-singer, like Lou Reed!

Can we name some other Talk-Singers to make this set interesting?

Sure. Martin Fry from ABC comes to mind

Not likely, not after Katrina House.

WOS2 RHCP -- If we had to hear rap in '87, I'd've MUCH preferred the Beasties.

based on the accents, that sounds like a Canadian news report on AIDS.

Chili Peppers?  another BOS..!

At least the album title was interesting: The Uplift Mofo Party Plan

I was quite glad to hear that buzzer. 2 uninspired sets in a row -- Dave's mind is in Michigan.

And the Dead win BOS; Fogheads are SOOOOO predictable.

So I guess we have an East Coast/West Coast White Boy Rap feud going on here?

well, it certainly stands out among the songs played.  You may not care for its bouncy attitude, but the song was a definite phenomenon back then, and not just among old burnt out deadheads!

10/22/08 – Wednesday!  Remembering…1987!!!

1.  The Smiths – Ask
2.  Stabilizers – One Simple Thing
3.  Fabulous Thunderbirds
4.  John Hiatt – A Thing Called Love
5.  Tom Petty – The Damage You’ve Done
6.  Jesus & Mary Chain – April Skies
7.  Robbie Robertson – Somewhere Down the Crazy River
8.  Crowded House – Something So Strong
9.  Grateful Dead – Touch of Grey (BEST OF SET!!)
10. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Fight Like a Brave

BONUS TRACK:  Jon Astley – Jane’s Getting Serious

I would of gone through the other 9 before I listed the Dead as BOS. Hell, I would of added 1,000 more songs from 1987 before I listed the Dead as BOS.

Haha, I'm almost with you there.  But everyone once in a while I do enjoy it.  My BOS went to J&MC.
