well that's good news...

1990?

Whaaa? 1990 is considered "fairly old stuff" now? Crap. I'm not sticking around for this.
-
if he meant "Really" old, he would have said that instead. 18 yrs ago is merely fairly old.
-
if anyone wants to join me at WLNG -- they're playing the Singing Nun!
well... maybe not ;)

well, I guess. The pattern this month has been something older on Thurs so that the Friday "classic" can be '90s. So I was hoping we were sticking to that. Maybe a '60s "classic" tomorrow, then.

Dave plays the "shit!" version of AiC's "Man in the Box."
WOS to Smithereens.
-
This is the first time Dave has ever played Alice In Chains, and I can give "Man In The Box" an enthusiastic BOS.
-
another BOS for Alice from me..!
I'm not a Replacements fan, but I dig "A Squirrel Like You" -- fine pop song.
^^^^^^^^
Edit: oops, I meant Smithereens
-
Unintentional pun? From the "Dirty Bird" scene to "Birdhouse In Your Soul".
-
Man in a Box...
Birdhouse in your Soul...
what's next?

oh my!
The one in the middle is called Lucky Pierre, right?

BOS, The Cure. (wasn't listening during the Alice in Chains, not allowed to vote for it -- rules are rules)

TANC, just this morning my wife began to wax nostalgic (*highly* uncharacteristic for her) about the squirrels in our backyard that won't be coming with us next week when we move.
-
Toy Matinee gets as much airplay in 1990 as anyone, between this and "Things She Said", but he's only played the one song I really like by them once - "Ballad of Jenny Ledge".
-
BOS to Midnight Oil, "Forgotten Years."
-
Midnight Oil - BOS2
remember when MO pulled up on a flatbed truck in front of the Exxon Bldg on 6th Ave and did a few songs?

"Nothing Compares 2 U" still reliably chokes me up. I heard it last night at a Duane Reade pharmacy.

That's sad, but not in the way you mean. TANC: I heard it in Walgreens the other day -- guess there's a centralized pharmacy-music service!

I just thank god he didn't play "Mandinka" again*, since there are so many great songs on this album. If Dave ever plays "I Am Stretched On You Grave" I can guarantee that both POC & I will dance a jig wherever we are.
*"Mandinka" was on her debut album in late 1987, yet Dave had played it in 2 of the last 3 sets from 1990.

BOS3: Dudes admitted to Mills College! Schwa-winng!
(just kidding)
-
Another BOS for Faith No More.
-
proxy of POC & BOS #3 from me for Jellyfish.
-
My gf, while in college, lived next door to Mike Patton. She remembers coming out onto the porch one night and seeing him there, very drunk and standing at the edge relieving himself.
so I cannot give a BOS to you, Mr Bungle!
BOS3 to Jellyfish

Well, 1990 was the year I quit my original "career", and changed directions completely. So, in that sense, it was a lifetime ago, which would make the music fairly old. It's all relative, and most of my relatives are fairly old.
