I'm hearing Dave's voice on the Morning Show; can't tell if he's actulally there or if he's voice-tracked. So whether we're getting a new set or a "classic" is unclear.
-
supposed to be non-Katrinas. Not sure what version of "Some Kind of Wonerful" this is.

Soul Brothers Six -- a Morey fave, if not an actual 'trina. Must've been a big hit in Dee-troit.

Dave's not online, so maybe this is canned?
Captain of My Ship?

Fontella Bass and Rescue Me

Song #2 was "Stop" by Howard Tate. And of course here's Fontella Bass. Followed by Edwin Starr's fab "S.O.S"

And now JB gives us a taste of his organ. Er...

Preacher daughter! Good Gawd! MacNasty!

Listening while doing some housecleaning, finally decided I had to fire up the laptop to see who was posting.
Started a tad early didn't it? This will probably be over by 10:25 at this rate.
But still blissful!

I Just Want to Testify

BOS Joe Tex "Show me" (but this is really a 10-way tie today). And here come the Parliaments!

Parliaments, right?
Bring it on home now!

Oh Johnny C, you're Fantastic! Boogaloo down B'way, bub!
-
10:25, just like I guessed.

That lengthy discussion of the Howard Tate master tapes proves this to be a Classic, in case there was any doubt.

Damn, sorry I didn't try to tune in this morning--I figured it'd be a day of "KFOG Variety" and there wouldn't be a set. And I won't be home tonight as we're off to Salem to see the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Giants' single-A club) take on the Tri City Dust Devils--with fireworks after! Anyway, happy 4th, y'all--it rained (a little bit) here today!
Mark, was this set in the DB at all, or is it one from the deep, dark recesses of the KFOG archives?

It strikes me as having first aired quite some time ago -- on a Friday when the "suits" were out of town, thus inspiring Dave to do an SP that wasn't "all hits".

I call shenanigans. My experience is that the moment they're coming is the moment they want you to let go.
