Year is TK.
Initially I meant TK as "to come" (publishing shorthand), but now that I hear what the year is, it's more like "totally kruddy."
(Best I could come up with on only one cup of tea.)
-
Year is TK
"Too Kool"? since it's '92 I fear it ain't conna be too cool at all...

could just as easily be Total Krap. :)
-
that's the second time this week that Dave has been on Song #2 by 10:01.

Copy editors' term for "to come," intentionally misspelled so it's not mistaken for actual text.

Any chance of Toni Braxton? I'm in the mood for "Breathe Again," but I think only "Another Sad Love Song" came along this early.

Btw, I edited my inital post with the explanation for TK.

Ah, thanks, Gaz. I shoulda remembered that at least you would have gotten it.

nice black crowes at the top. we could hear "love shoulda brought you home" from tb, right?

yeah, what's up with that? i was rockin' out to styx on ddt...had to cut the madame short. and still missed most of the crowes.
-
dude! bos: metallica! even if it's overplayed. nice segue, too. who was that angry woman?
-
HM (and a minor sledgehammer) for "The Unforgiven." In spring '92, my freshman year of college, this song was unavoidable. Now a permanent sensory association for me -- I can almost smell the vinyl in the cramped WARC studio now.

Or for Top Cat. The indusputable leader of the gang.

The Aristocats, izzat?
I'd enjoy getting K.W.S.'s house remake of "Please Don't Go," but I'm not sure that's in the Morey ouevre.

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
-
"this is funny, that's what this is."
one of my favorite quotes ever.
and it's been awhile since i've heard "if life is a highway..."
-
I swear, Beej, I'm still taken aback by your avatar every time I see it, as if it's the first time.
-
y'all can say what you will about Tom Cochrane, but in the spring & summer of '92 I was about to leave the country for an indefinite stay in Taiwan & had the travel bug so bad I could taste it. This song will always resonate for that reason.

"the first time i looked into your eyes, i cried...do you remember?"
-
inxs! this set is kicking ass.
-
Ooh, the elegant "Not Enough Time," from the criminally underappreciated Welcome to Wherever You Are album. This one deserves to be in any music fanatic's canon.
-

Shirley, you jest. I'm fading fast. No offense to Mr Hutchence.

Thanks! But, it may be time for a change. I just haven't thought and/or found anything that strikes me fancy yet.

MEoS = INXS "Not Enough Time"
Most Evocative of Set, this was used by NBC in a montage during the Olympics to great effect.
My all-time favorite #28 song.

Just don't shower me with your love, 'k?

no way. this is high school music. back when everything was so serious...i'm totally nosty right now. where's my judybats?
-
(P.S. POC - are you and I the only lovers of New Jack Ballads 'round these parts?)
-
i will go to my grave saying if ross perot had been elected we would be in much better shape, economically. there's no excuse for letting all that .com cash slip trough greenspan's fingers.
-
Aaaack! "All 4 Katrina". Is this legal in both '91 & '92? Dave's played it in both years.
-
(P.S. POC - are you and I the only lovers of New Jack Ballads 'round these parts?)
quite possibly. can we indulge this weekend? shower me with the new jack ballads i hope for?
-
"my mind just drew a complete blank"
too much lithium, perhaps?

I'm gonna break out the tapes and LPs when Princess comes home.
-
Hate to say it, but my most-likely BOS is Katrithium. Great juxtaposition of the nice, happy little verse melody and the ferocious guitar riff in the chorus.
(Took me awhile to figure out how to merge "katrina" and "lithium.")

she's the pride of the Gaz's 'hood...
-
Any chance that Dave's gonna close with "Chocolate Cake," which I think was the second or third single from Woodface?
-

are you at two cups of tea yet? ;)
-
yay! a different automatic for the people song!
-
Every time Dave plays an R.E.M. song I don't like, I feel like Violet berating Charlie Brown for bringing back the wrong Christmas tree.

I recall that as being the first single, no? Wasn't that '91?
-

"I'm so ugly, that's okay 'cuz so are you."
reminds me of Dilbert a few days ago...
Dilbert to Dogbert: I'm the victim of an ugly rumor at work.
Dogbert: Are you saying that the rumor is ugly or the rumor is that you're ugly?
Dilbert: I'm saying the rumor itself is ugly.
Dogbert: Well, then I have more bad news for you.
-

and the closest thing to a BOS I'll find in this otherwise Katrina-laden snoozefest.

Will she pray like a Roman with her eyes on fire?
if so get pix.

Nope--cup # 2 doesn't usually happen 'til post-set.
-

no, but i might prey like a roman with my eyes on kartina lombard.
eta: and by roman i mean caligula.
-
vhm to a song from the album that started me on bass: "breaking the girl"
-
My internet connection kinda sucks today.

This is why I will need an entire arsenal of fact-checking cuzzes someday. You're probably right. I just know it was during my frosh year.
WOS to this "Say that you'll be the one" thing. Oh how I hate music that sounds like this (and I'm sorry I can't articulate that better).

BINGO.

I need some SmoothFM to fill the empty void this set has left me with.

I didn't know it was Poi Dog Pondering, which is to say I vaguely recognized the tune but had never bothered to associate it with a band. I don't hate it, for the simple fact that stuff like this doesn't even begin to pique my interest enough to have that strong a reaction to it.
But I can see what you mean.

somehow i knew you would like the song. i didn't know poi dog was ever on the radio. i remember the song, but, did not associate it with them either.

Well Mike, I first read this on my mopup, and assumed you would set the young'un straight! Yes, the Hanna-Barbera days indeed!

With the great Arnold Stang doing his best Phil Silvers imitation.
