Title: 23 May 2008--it's...1971
Post by: mshray on May 23, 2008, 09:52:53 AM
suppose we're all guessing early 70's, and here's a little pre-set CCR "Bad Moon Rising" to get me in the mood.

ETA:  This always make me think of Chris Berman's best SportsCenter off-the-cuff nickname, for one time NFL receiver Andre 'Bad Moon' Rison.  Rison liked it so much that he got it tattoed on his body, and that was before Lisa 'Left-Eye' Lopes burned down his house.

And so it comes to pass. My first thought was "George?" followed quickly by "Ringo?" And it turns out I was right on both counts (I believe George plays guitar on IDCE).

Mondegreens come easy for Ringo:

"I don't ask for much, I only want a crust"

"this rubber vine keeps growin' all the time"

(Hey, they made sense to me when I was 15)

Have you ever heard George's demo version of "It Don't Come Easy"?  It's as good as Ringo's release.  I'll email it to you if the file size isn't an issue.

I've got 2 sets in the Db that kick of by Going Mobile, and the other one has Macca, his uncle & the admiral in the #2 slot.

Urth, this is a fantastic set form late '06, and it's not archived.

Hint Hint (unless you already packed up all your gear).

I still hear the latter as "book of lies" rather than "book of lines," which contradicts his message but makes it a little more interesting for me.

Don't mail it to me, I've heard it (size is *always* an issue).  But you're right, it's very cool -- I didn't find out until recently George had written it, but when you hear George's version, you can totally imagine it on All Things Must Pass.

Peking Ferry JINX!

ETA:  I've been to Beijing*, and afaik there are no ferries (or any bodies of water for that matter) anywhere nearby.

*pet peeve time:  the 'j' sound in the capital of China is exactly the same as in 'jingle', short and sharp, not this mushy French sounding 'j' as in 'du jour'.  Yet every western talking head insists on mispronouncing it while looking smug like they are so sophisitcated.  In fact Mandarin has that exact sound, but it is written as 'zh', and in fact the vowel sound that can follow the 'j' and the 'zh' are mutually exclusive, so only a 'j' can come before an 'i'.

Man, you have no idea. Last I looked it was May 1, and now it's nearly June. The weeks are flying like hours.

That'd be great--I should be home most evenings next week, I think.

Btw, BOS to Ringo, Rod, and the Floyd. I'm reading Nick Mason's memoir right now--pretty interesting, and well written too. I'm told he wrote it himself, no ghost.
