Dude, condolences -- I'm bummed too, much as I enjoy a good '74 set, I thought SI was in the bag.

Oh, and TANC: this week's Klassic Kasem Kountdown is also from '74:

Meantime, this '74 set really ought to include "Will It Go 'Round in CIRCLES" in honor of it being 3.14 today.

I suspect you're right--Dave mentioned Pi Day earlier so he's definitely hip to it.

Btw, I overheard someone here talking about a friend of theirs who's having a kid today--they're naming him/her Pi.

Pretty funky set so far--Geils, Rev. Al, and now the Isleys--not a Soul Patrol but a remarkable imitation!

ETA: Big ups to the clavinet--ya just don't hear keyboard parts like this anymore.

Same could have been said for that date specific 1968 set we got for Tony Salvador.  It's been a funky week.

BOS to the Isleys.  Would've given BOS to J. Geils as well except I can't abide the grammar of the title.   :P

I've been to Danang, Vietnam.  There's a big statue there and a public holiday to commemorate the day (shortly subsequent to that news clip we just heard) when a couple jeeps full of female VC cadres rolled into town and found that ARVN (the So. Vietnam army) was nowhere to be found & that the city officials where willing to surrender unconditionally.  Danang is the 3rd biggest city in Vietnam, so this event is widely viewed as the beginning of the endgame.

there was a New Yorker cartoon that week showing two guys looking at a headline of "Nelson Rockefeller named Veep", and one says to the other, "So...That's what you give to the guy who already has everything."

Dave's preferred "single remix" of "Rebel Rebel."  Would've rather gotten "1984."

Actually that's how I've always thought Mr. Welch sings it, and furthermore probably where Dave (Letterman, that is) got it from.  Unless they both got it from Alfalfa.

What a great set.  I was down in the O.C. last week for training, and got back Friday night to hear the tail end of the set while driving home from long term parking.  Was sad that I missed what would have obviously been my bos, the TOTHC, those bad boys from boston, the mighty,
j
geils
band.
