They've been taking suggestions all morning on the Morning Show. I trust Dave has the sense to shelve the ones for songs from John Hughes movies.
ETA: And I see by looking at the Shraytabase that this has been a regular theme set for the last several years--this one will be the fourth consecutive edition. I'd totally forgotten.

I dunno -- that's KFOG's "target demo" writ large.
-
There were some good suggestions this morning. Wonder Boys has some good options.

Looking at the lists of the last three years, tho, there are a couple of songs that could be left out--several songs have been played 2 out of three years (If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out; Celluloid Heroes; Streets of Philadelphia) and Misirlou has 100% attendance--all three years. But surprisingly, none from any John Hughes films. So either I have nothing to worry about, or they're overdue.

Okay, now in your best Don Pardo voice: "10at10 goes to the movies!" "Big Don likes it loud!" "And now the long version!" "For hits like that, who ya gonna call?"
-
UH-OH! KFOG stream not working -- neither their player nor the WM link on our page. WTF?
-
Uh-oh indeed. Not good timing. I'll be crossing my fingers for ya, if not, I'll provide play-by-play.
-
UH-OH! KFOG stream not working -- neither their player nor the WM link on our page. WTF?
I got it to work from the KFOG main page.

Forgot it was his birthday, but we sure got the whole gamut of quotes early.

from both sources I get a web page for "com.org" (?!?) indicating the web address has expired/is available for purchase. Why would that only happen to me -- a WM player that's not working I could understand, but this?

I had no problem with the stream. Happy B-Day, Big Daddy Don! (Did Dave actually play a set of songs from his birth year once, or is that another invented memory of mine?)

Try clearing your cache. Got to Tools > Internet options, then under Temporary internet files, hit "delete files"

Dave long ago played a set from like 1948 on April fools day, but I doubt even Dave has ten songs from 1918!

Can only go up from here dept: "Back to the Future" clip, followed by Huey, Back in Time.
Btw, nice insta-avatar of Mr. Pardo, there, Mark!
-
WWWWWWWWWOS to Seger. My hate for this song knows no bounds.
-
For Mike:
Song 1 was "Back In Time", Huey (with Future Boy clip preceding)
Song 2, "Old Time R & R", no Risky Biz clip.

thx, got it from IMDb. His real full name is Dominick George Pardo.

I stand corrected (see my previous post). Two songs in, and both make me go "feh". The mental image of TC in skivvies does not help, knowing what we know now.

well, that didn't work. This really makes no sense whatsoever.

Well, if others aren't having the same issues (i'm listening to the radio, so I don't know), it's time to scan for viruses...
-
Rarity points for Alphaville, "Forever Young."

Bummer. If no portable radio handy, take over a co-worker's PC!
-

What film was that from?
And to Dave's credit, none of the first three appeared in the last 3 "...goes to the Movies" sets.

What movie was that supposed to be from, Napolean Dynamite?

But every other stations player is working fine -- only KFOG is giving me this odd problem.

Grumblegrumblegrumble. Most of the suggestions Dave took on the air yesterday were for songs from movies that came out in the 80s or later. And that seems to be what we're getting here.
-
I'll give "In Your Eyes" a BOS, John Cusack standing out in the rain with his boom box over his head.

so far sounds like I'm not missing much -- and Bob played the Gabriel earlier.

.
As I recall, a horrible scifi time travel movie Forever Young with Mel Gibson 1990 ish

my incredulity at your hatred knows no bounds, either.

OK, this is getting better. Not to mention the first second repeat from Bob's set earlier. The "where's that Joe Buck" scene from Midnight Cowboy, followed by Nilsson, Everybody's Talkin'.
ETA: Dig this intermission refreshment clip!
-
Jon Voight's Joe Buck, not to be confused with John Candy's Uncle Buck. ;)

"Sewer rat might taste like punkin pie, but I'd never know..."
Cue up Miserlou.
-
Jules - I just don't dig on swine.
But we's all dig on the king of the surf guitar!

-
BOS to Gary Jules's "Mad World," from the enjoyable and confusing Donnie Darko.

Third repeat of the day: "Mrs. Robinson."
-
The lovely Mrs. R making an encore performance

My memory is that they were pretty mediocre in sales before the movie, and that the movie rekindled interest in their past albums as well. But that's just my memory. I have visions of shopping in Discount Records in Valley Fair at the time.
-
And now it's the Cat Man--If You Want to Sing Out...
Would love to hear Where Do the Children Play in this slot, but I guess this is more strongly identified with H&M.
Btw, Cameron Crowe of all people has assembled for the first time an official Harold and Maude soundtrack album (there never was one when the movie was released). It's on 180 gram vinyl only, put it out on his Vinyl Films Records, limited edition of 2500 copies, and comes with an extensive booklet, 2 posters and a bonus 10". Thankfully my lovely wife ordered us a copy--worth it for the book alone, if you're a big H&M fan.
Not sure who she ordered it from ('cause I know she paid less than $40 even with shipping), but it's available here:

Thanks, good to know. My 80-yr-ol' Mom saw H&M about a year ago and loved it so much she bought a copy, which is a big deal for her as she never buys video.

OK. I'll buy that.
I remember seeing The Graduate in the early '70s when it was re-released in a "PG" version (minus some nudity, apparently). I don't think I've ever seen the original R-rated version.

2. Bob Seger - Old Time Rock & Roll (Risky Business)
I didn't get a chance to listen to the set on Friday but every time I hear the above song, all I could remember is the scene where Tom Cruise danced in his underwear while lip syncing to this song.
