now here's my golden-haired Katrina-boy!
Except Ian Anderson didn't have golden hair & I can only wish that Dave would overplay Tull.

Thank you, she's here all week. Be sure to try the meatloaf!

RotFL!
actually it was ELO.

Hey, Mark. Was that you on the morning show giving a pass to Barry? I won't bother to make the case against him since it's old news, but good job getting on the air.

Indeed. Early BOS vote to It's only rock & roll...
"He hits the truckroad doing about 120...."

oh, sorry. i didn't realise gaz was asking a question about the set. :)

Agreed. I often forget how much I like this song. Had an early aversion to all things Tull b/c I hated "Aqualung" and assumed all their other stuff sounded like it.

That's great--but they didn't quite match the typeface--shoulda bolded it...

WOS: school lunches. Brings back too many vile memories.

AAAHHHH! FLAAAASSSHHHHBAAAACKKK! In the News. Damn. Haven't heard this in a million years. Well, OK. Since 1976.

ayup, was me.
I posted a longer rant on the Stream of Conciousness "Long Baseball Season" thread.

"Summer" may get a BOS vote from Mshray, but it's a cruel joke out here as it's snowing yet again today.

Not fave but it ranks damn high. Tuned in JIT for Frampton. The Frampton Comes Alive set is my fave 76 music.

I don't know which is better: my avatar saying "school lunches," or Beej's avatar saying "AAAHHHH! FLAAAASSSHHHHBAAAACKKK!"

for a week in high school, i dated a guy who drove a jeep. we maybe shared ten words during that week. we'd just drive around listening to tull and elton john. when a good tull moment hit him, he would lean over and whisper in my ear, "i like it when he plays his flute." then we'd drive to the park, and he would turn "saturday night's alright for fightin'" up full-blast, jump out of the jeep, and start dancing on a parkbench. the only lyrics he would ever sing were, "saturday! saturday! sa-tur-day!"
i thought he was so cool.

Urth, have you checked out the thread from whence that came? It's a must. Also where you can see a much larger version of POC's avatar.
and of course a BOS for "Summer"

that's funny - when i first saw it, i thought, "they must have not bolded it on purpose. now *what* could be the meaning?"

yes, but quite the sound effect for wheel of fortune to steal.

We got our third straight day of steady rain, especially during the commute hours. But yeah, snow in late March sucks.

that's disgusting. where are you going to stash all that chicken fried steak?

I looked at the first page of it, but haven't had a chance to dig deeper. Will try to take a look later today.

i wanted to like it, but the bass line was annoying.
-
"the common rubble of banality." VHM William Holden.
-
That ABC promo sounded like it was recorded with an ambient mic off a TV broadcast--Dave's production values are slipping. But it was a cool clip--I guess ya take what you can get.
-
I've heard that Celine Dion has performed "I Wish" in her Vegas revue. Does anyone know what she replaced the "little nappy headed boy" line with? Since I assume she didn't do the song as a blackfaced drag-king with a knotty weave.

Sha-ZAM, Sha-ZAM, Sha-ZAM! "The Best of the Trammps" is a MUST for any collection.

BOS for Stevie Wonder. I never get tired of this song. Bought the single when it came out, I did.

Most ambitious enjambment of set:

"tangle-headed girl?" i would love to see her do this. sigh, celine live is a real treat, methinks. that girl can saaaang!

10-dollar word of the day!
-
Wow, Frampton, Aerosmith, Stevie, now Fleetwood Mac--we're hitting all the '76 katrinas today--next up: Gary Wright.
-
VHM to the FMac. I find it intriguing that the refrain sentiment is in the declarative ("you say that you love me") but the title is cast in the imperative ("say you love me"). Anything at play here?
-

Agreed, but the Trammps breakout, er, Gomer, made it worthwhile. Nonetheless, VHM to the Legendary Christine Perfect.

Enjambment is the term for breaking a sentence or word in the middle due to metrical constraints.

a shorter, catchier title. less is more.
-
BOS to the majestic Starbuck and their equally majestic xylophone.
-
another VHM, Starbuck. Xylophones rule!
-
catch the wind in your hands today!
vhm: the moonlight solo

No doubt. And Starbuck is sort of a cheesier version of Gary Wright anyway. Mustache, white touring cap and all. Visions of Midnight Special.
Btw, who's the little tyke in your latest avatar?
(Gotta take a few minutes and find something to replace Homer's CAT scan.)

Invented by Cole Porter, who knew a bit about jamb-ing things.

see previous posts. I can't believe NOBODY recognized the pic and the quote.

Trust me that it's not oxymorony or sarcasm when I call "Serenade" my favorite Steve Miller song. VHM.

here's here all week, folks. but we ran out of meatloaf.
another hm: steve miller. i like the bassline at the end. and the cymbals there, too.
-
and we end (?) with a Gaz WOS. Personally I find it one of Steve's more durable entries.

Hey Mike, just to show no hard feelings I'll field the queries from Urth & Dave for ya:
as Mike said an a different thread:
OMG! You've never seen Village of the Damned? Only a Brit sci-fi classic!

It really is a good movie, subtle and well-directed, not the typical sci-fi "B" movie of the period, and I highly recommend it. Based on a novel by the same guy responsible for Day of the Triffids. It was released in 1960 when I was five, and the TV commercials scared the living crap out of me! I finally saw it on TV when I was in high school. And about 10 years ago I saw it at the Castro during one of their Cinemascope fests, ona double bill with Forbidden Planet (surely you've seen that? ) With the Castro audience, VOTD had quite the gay subtext.
