Title: 8 February 2008--it's 'Through The Wall Classics'
Post by: mshray on February 08, 2008, 08:56:22 AM
early this morning Dave said that the set should stand by itself, but if you want to read the stories behind the selections you can go to his blog.  Haven't done so yet myself.

The stories are actually pretty good; this is not that far removed from "Sledgehammers" (which Dave really *did* do 3 times ;) )

nice start with "Let's Get it On" -- guess there won't be a "Love Songs" set next week (or at least not one with this in it).

I'll probably wait til the set's over so's not to ruin any surprises, not that I expect anything too exotic. Nice start with "Let's Get It On"--I can imagine what else they heard thru the wall while this was playing!

There's a place for Dave in the fire escape trade.  I know what I like and I know it's not "...Your Wardrobe".

not just for the theme, very likely we'll hear a track off of that album, and if not then certainly from DSotM

Divergence of opinion--this is a little more obscure than I was expecting, so I'm happy so far. BOS2 Genesis when they were great.

"As the sun beats down and I lie on the bench, I can always hear them talk...me, I'm just a lawnmower. You can tell me by the way I walk."

(A bit of lyrical strangeness from Herr Gabriel)

This is my favorite story on the blog, goody-two-shoes middle sister bursts in on older & younger sisters listening to this track and yells at them "Turn this S**t OFF!"

Yes, I'm using this Stones time to read the stories on Dave's blog:

Ooooo--plants and birds and rocks and things...and more cheeze!

ETA: So when do we get Winchester Cathedral? It was being discussed heavily during yesterday's Morning Show, so I figured it was a shoo-in.

So far, 'Horse' and 'Dust' = most Zeitgeist for me.

I think the reason they used it for "traffic music" this morning is because it's NOT in the set.  But it would certainly be the highlight of this rather pedestrian classic-rock list.

Not only we didn't get any Floyd, but right after the set we get "Young Lust", which wasn't one of the 2 or 3 Floyd songs suggested.  So I guess Annalisa's bonus track won't even have Floyd as an option.

Ha!  Annalisa makes the pick herself, and it's "What song is it you wanna hear?"

This blog posting was kind of sweet:

Quote
In 1976-78, I had my first apartment without a roommate - Telegraph Hill, view of the morning sunrise over the Bay. Lying in bed alone, and exhilarated about my great new life. The two boys who lived upstairs played "Hotel California" over and over - so it is a through-the-ceiling classic. Hearing that song still (though I am not an Eagles fan) gives me a great feeling. Wonderful present, all-options-open future, past left 3000 miles behind.
