Color me perturbed.
-
or so I'm assuming...
Mike, are you off today? Is everyone else? I'm "off," but at some point I need to go into the office for a few hours to catch up on some work. Not looking forward to it. But in three weeks, my work on this book will be done and I can catch my breath.

No, I'm working. Kaiser doesn't even give us day-after-Thanksgiving, much less MLK Day.
-
Sounds like 1980 to me. Nice TOTHC
eta: I'm at work too.
-
well, no MLK, but one of my favorite Morey Katrinas, Althea
-
What. The. FUUUUUUCK??? No MLK set for the first time since gawd knows when. Damn.

Groovin nicely for me.
-
BOS Pearl Harbor & the Explosions, "Drivin'". One of the truly fab New Wave tracks of that year.
-
I always liked the rhythm guitar in this Pearl Harbor song.

It's a nice enough song, but doesn't have the high energy I usually associate with a "cooker." That had a fine rainy day mellow vibe, but cooked like a crock pot.

Ack! WOS, "Emotional Rescue"
-
Coulda done without the Knight in Shining Ahh-muuuhh.
Hoping for some Bounce Rock Skate Roll, or at least Invisible Man's Band.
-
VHM to the much-maligned "Emotional Rescue", Mick channeling Marvin on a fine Ah-raaaaab chahhhhh-jahhhhh!
-
Ack! WOS, "Emotional Rescue"
Exactly the words I was searching for!
-
Hoping for some Bounce Rock Skate Roll
That would be the bustout of the century. Keep dreamin' bub. Me, I'd like "Tired of Toein' the Line", but I'll settle for "Xanadu".
-
Guilty Displeasure, the Babys.
-
Most Meh of Set: Babys.
-
Ack! WOS, "Emotional Rescue"
Yeah, but who knew that this was written by Jimmy Carter for Lee Iacocca? (at last that's what the news segue made me think)

Donna's a wan-duh-wuh! And this is the 2nd or 3rd time we've heard this in the past year, no?
-
welcome back, bub, wherethehell ya been?
Flat on my back all last week with back pain (actually from Sat-Sat). Nasty flare up. Better today but not yet 100%. Heard every set, but sitting up at a keyboard was pretty much the worst thing I could do, so I just stayed off the computer entirely. Missed you guys too!
-
BOS to "Holidays in Cambodia," HM to Ms. Summer.
Mark, sorry to hear of your back malady. Welcome back!
-

Hrm... the shraytabase sez Dave's only played this twice: once in 2005 and again on jan 3rd 2007... Sure seems like recently that Gaz & I did a"Wan-duh-wuh" jinx.
-
Yikes, Chris Cross is "Sailing" into view. High cheeze factor today.
-
sorta guilty pleasure, Christopher Cross "Sailing". Helluva song to slowdance to my freshman year of college.
-
Is it cruel to WOS 'Sailing?'

Well, I guess that is probably true. Can't think of anything else to recommend it.
Welcome "back", Mark. Hope it continues to improve.

I going to ask my doctor to take a picture of my insides tomorrow right about at this time. Last x-rays of my spine are 7 yrs old, and I'm a little concerned that my condition may have deteriorated.

i fear that line may have inspired my own:
"I paid a doctor to take a camera to my brain
And analyse all the shots she took
But the negatives came out a bit too dark"
damn pop culture brainwashing rearing its ugly head. :)

Wow -- that's great!
I googled to get the "Jane Dornacker" reference; I remember her as the traffic reporter killed in a NYC helicopter crash but I never knew she was in Pearl Harbor's pre-Explosions band, or that she CO-WROTE the Tubes' "Don't Touch Me There" (!)

Yeah, she was part of the Tubes stage entourage for years pre-Pearl Harbor. It was a fairly prominent news story here when she died, because of all her local connections. Very tragic--I think she left a daughter, iirc.

I'm not sure I knew she died. I remember her (unless this is another of my senile memories) as Leila of Leila and the Snakes.

Finally had time to watch a few of the videos that guy compiled. Nice job--wonder if he'll keep it up? I'd imagine doing years from the late 70s onward might have more videos available to work with. But maybe not--I never cease to be amazed what turns up on YouTube.
Dug the Split Enz--cool to see the *very* young Neil Finn mugging for the camera. And the Gary Numan was cool, if dated. Also, noticed that the singer from the Vapors has almost the same haircut I had in that timeframe.
I was thinking of leaving a comment on his page with a link back here, in case he's as over the top about 10@10 as we are.

I remember Jane from being in Leila and the Snakes. We might even have an old single. I don't think I knew of her death.

Actually his name is Roger, we exchanged emails yesterday & I see that he has registered as a member. Maybe he'll show up today.

When I was poking around on his blog, I realized he's made a regular thing of compiling a video 10@10--he's done both Tuesdays and Wednesday's sets as well.
Geoff, we might want to add his URL to the links page, particularly if he keeps this up.
