Post by: urth on January 08, 2008, 09:59:40 AM
Dave sez "our favorite year." Whose year would that be?

Stevie W., Rollin' With It.

Weird - neither the direct link on our page nor the listen link on KFOG's page are working for me.  :(

working fine here but you're not missing a thing -- usual suspects all (Neil's "This Note", and Alarming Rain in the Summertime).

No porblems with the stream here, although if Dave doesn't do something fresh in another song or two I'll wish there were.

My dream (world) of a bustout or two is probably dead and buried.

I like the Oils as much as the next guy but still no freshness, so far as I can tell. (Dreamworld, for those following along sans stream.)

OK, PSBs covering Willie is a little fresher, although not a bustout.

OK, one bustout, at least according to the Shraytabase: Robert Plant, Heaven Knows.

A few good lyrical turns in here: "You were pumping iron as I was pumping irony."

And: "With all the romance of the ton ton macoute." (sp?)

Well, BOS2 Percy if it''s truly a bustout.

BOS3 Dead Ringers. Jeremy Irons RULES! as does Mr Cronenberg.

So far that was the highlight of the set for me.  I'll always remember a couple years later when Irons won his Oscar, one of the first persons he thanked was Cronenberg ("and I think you know why," he told the audience)

BOS 2, "Mr Jones".  Though I don't know if this is Byrne solo, or the TH's last.  I think the latter.

Well, far from a bustout, but I still like hearing it: THeads' turn on the ubiquitous Mr. Jones. VHM.

Bono believes in love; Dave believes in Katrinas.

Not an overall bustout, but in '88 it is (and another BOS candidate from yours truly): U2, God, Part 2.

BOS for Was (Not Was), even though this is some weird remix that doesn't really agree with me.

How'd you get all the way up to BOS 4?  This is BOS 1 for me.

PSBs, Percy, Jeremy Irons and now this.  See, I don't hate the late '80s -- I just hate what Dave usually does to them. But here's a 'trina-of-'trinas: the Church.

Dave sez it's on a remix called "The Collection."

and this tidbit from wiki:

"In 1997, Steve Winwood released a tune which borrowed not just the title of "Spy In the House of Love" but also the bass line and other elements. However, no lawsuits ensued (or were settled out of court)"

Sorry I missed the W(NW), which I haven't heard since it was on the charts, but that's it.  Will miss today too - work is slamming me.

Sounds like it was remixed by a Chicago House DJ who'd heard too much Colonel Abrams.
