Title: 28 Dec 2007: AAAACK! 1989!
Post by: RGMike on December 28, 2007, 10:03:12 AM
Geez, '87 and '89 in the same week. talk about coal in yer stocking!  Rather than end the year on a sour note, I'll bail and head over to CG early.

But as I've said before... there really seems to be something to the theory that we hear these years as "classics" whenever Dave's away for a reason (i.e., they're HIS least-favorite years too).

Well I peeked ahead, this set does get better in the second half, starting with Love & Rockets "So Alive" right now.  This was already a classic when it first made the Db last year in Aug, so it certainly fits Mike's theory.

Why yes, I am.

VHM for Annie Lennox out-Ferrying Bryan Ferry.  I thought it was him after the first couple lines.

BOS to Q-Feel, "Dancing in Heaven," and what movie was it in?  My friend Dave* put it on a mixtape for me once years ago and gave the impression that he'd gone to some lengths to track down the song.

Speaking of Dave*, he and his wife just had their second-born yesterday, so hooray for them.  They're calling him JJ, and I've already sent an e-mail asking "what choo been doin'? You say your car's broke down, the thing just isn't moving."

Oh, and VHM to the Eurythmics, a personal favorite of mine among their catalogue.  I'd never considered the Bryan Ferry connection before but it's really apt.

I like 80's music more then anyone else here. I hate what most of you like the early 70's but even I hate this period. Late 80's got pretty bad.

BTW, did Dave ever do 1997 this year? I don't remember any sets from that year (thankfully).

I believe it was Girls Just Wanna Have Fun with a young Sarah Jessica Parker.
