After Gaz's anti-Carrack comment yesterday, I'm compelled to BOS Ace, "How Long".  Just as I'd've BOS'd "I Need You" -- that was an underrated LP from an underrated singer. There's a career-spanning "Carrack Collection" out there with everything from Ace to Mike & the Mechanics and beyond; it's well worth owning.

BOS2: the MTM "Chuckles the Clown" ep, an all-time classic.

OMG -- The Nooge when he was, er, better. Duuuude! "Stanglehold"!

"hair-EE, yeah yeah" -- VHM "Listen What The Man Said" just 'cause Bob included that I-still-don't-understand-it spoken intro.

Proxy of Urth for the Dylan.  I'm holding out my vote; '75 is always full of surprises for me.

BOS3 from me (It's "Shelter From the Storm", BTW); always a joy to hear something other than "Tangled Up in Blue".

Whee!  BOS to Xmas Boss!  More fun to hear this out of "holiday station" context.

"Sugar"?  One of us is mondegreening; I thought that was "chilly" for me?

Bob said this was recorded in Dec '75 (at CW Post college on Lawn Guyland), but iirc it didn't actually make it to the radio until the following Xmas as a promo-to-radio-stations-only disc. I remember our college station calling Columbia and begging them for a copy to no avail.

It's chilly, and if Mike modegreened that part, I can't wait to hear what he thinks the rest of the line is after "gotta get____".

But very sad to have missed the Nooge.  "Stranglehold" is one of my mainstay 70's FM memories.

sometimes you gotta get higher
sometimes you gotta get low
some people say you gotta die someday
I got news, you never got to GO

I would never in a million years get "Chilly" from that, tho' Top40db confirms it.  But it's "gotta get a raincheck on...", no?

yep, but for years I found that line so confusing that I never even came up with a suitable mondegreen for it.  I think maybe at one time I thought it was "gotta get a racing car"
