Title: KBCO, 12/3/07: 1986
Post by: mshray on December 03, 2007, 08:55:50 AM
according to Ginger's setlist from Friday we're going to 1986 today.  But her late 80's sets are usually pleasant enough.

'86 was a good year for albums by bands with initials - INXS, OMD, REM, UB40, so I always have hope.

WOS Short Circuit -- an awful, shameless E.T. ripoff.  VHM Steve Miller.

Paul Simon & Simple Minds to start, but my BOS goes to Steve Miller "I Want to Make the World Go Around".  First time most of heard Kenny G, too.

What!?  If Steve Guttenberg & Ally Sheedy and that token Asian guy don't make this an instant classic, than I don't know what does!

 ;) ;) ;)

seriously, tho'... WHOLE SCENES are lifted from E.T. in SC.  The only saving grace is that El DeBarge song.

I've really gotten to hate The Call thanks to 10@10 overexposure.

BOS3 T.Heads -- great soundtrack from (unfortunately) a smug, self-satisfied movie.

Kudos to Ginger for digging up that Vinny Testaverde Heisman clip.  Yesterday he became the oldest quarterback to win an NFL game, at 44 yrs 1 mo, breaking his own record from earlier in the year when he was still 43.

Ha ha, and a nifty segue too, into TH "People Like Us", assuming Ginger is feeling like an old fart herself today!  BOS #3

Trower in '86? This is a rarity indeed.

No Shit!

I'm quite sure I haven't heard anything from Trower later than the couple of albums he did with Jack Bruce in 80/81.  And this doesn't sound too bad, VHM form me.

"She said she was working for the ABC News
It was as much of the alphabet as she knew how to use"

As I was working for ABC News at the time... I've always loved this song. BOS4.

Absolute BOS Elvis & Brilliant Mistake, vhm for the Little Shop of Horrors clip, and another BOS to the Smithereens.

I wanted to make a comment about going from Blood and Chocolate to Blood and Roses, except the EC tune was on King of America, not B&C (although both came out in '86).
