Worst Line of Week: "Straight as curve."  I'm sure he thought he was really clever when he sang that.

Ha!  But it's a (dare I say) "good" Katrina. When did Dave play it last, BTW?

what are the odds that Dave can overcome his inate desire to make us hear The Stranglers "Dreamtime" for the 4th time this year?

There are at least 2 other tracks on that album that I wish he'd play instead.

wow, TANC!  (did you already know?)  It was a year ago to the day.  And it was the 4th time we heard it in '06.

or better yet, Daryl Hall's song of the same name (which was a #5 single, hardly an obscurity).

VHM Mater, Pater, and Mick H.

I do believe you've nailed it--I couldn't place them with this song. Safe to say, extreme rarity if not a debut.

Indeed, I'll have to BOS it, it's quite good. Is Reagan the "deadly piper"? LOL!

Yep again, we get "Right And Wrong" with some regularity, but not "Wild West".

spotlight on  Graham Maby's bass.

TANC: I just listened to two Level 42 songs yesterday: "Running in the Family" and "Lessons in Love."  Today's BOS falls in between those two as my prefs go, LIL being the superior.

VHM Level 42, tho' this is becoming a frequent flier, methinks.

Sometimes, you're better off BOS2.

There are some who deem this the first #1 rap single.

brilliance on display in the line "from Lake Geneva to the Finland Station", a reference which I doubt 5% of listeners caught (present company excluded of course).

Their stance is that it was a sung song that happened to have a rapped bridge.  I happen to consider "Rapture" the first #1 rap single.

A third camp opts for "Ice Ice Baby."  I feel bad for them.

I respect Jackson Browne's political commitment. But that doesn't mean his late '80s songs are, y'know, good.

Color me 95 - I have no idea what that line referred to.

Is this Jackson Browne or David & David?

one Vladimir Ilich Lenin, in exile in Sitzerland in 1917, was given a so-called "sealed train" by the German government to cross Germany & go back to Russia.  The Krauts clearly hoped Lenin's return would create political unrest back in Russia, which would help to end the war on the Eastern front.  Lenin arrived to a tumultuous reception at Finland Station, in Petrograd (later Leningrad, now St. Petersburg), and 6 months later Russia exited the war.
