Not a great year, but all is forgiven with Living Colour's "Open Letter to a Landlord," which I missed last time someone played it.

I'd've said the same thing -- Wilburys? Living Color? and  "What I Am" was DEF an '89 charted single.

and here's a major late'80s Narada for me: Rhythm Corps. Rob and Ginger seem to remember it; I'd never heard it until a few years ago.
