Title: 1 Nov 2007: a classic from... 1980
Post by: RGMike on November 01, 2007, 07:50:24 AM
Dave's not here, man -- he's got Jury Duty. Should be right up his alley, given his love of Judge Judy (and executioner).

They seem to think he'll be back tomorrow; wonder if he's got a "Time" set planned for the resetting of the clocks.

Wonder if being a well-known media personality is a reasonable excuse to get off jury duty?

Probably not -- Jon Norris of MTV was serving jury duty at the same time I was a few years ago.

This is the set we heard on Jan 3 of this year, if things continue the way they're going. Some good songs, some katrinas. And the Princess's favorite lech.

WOS Babys -- my least fave of theirs, and I'm rather sick of it at this point.

VHM the Letch hisself!  Another Rod Temperton comp that (almost by definition) sounds like one of MJ's hand-me-downs.

I definitely agree.  This reminds me that I've got to find their Freedom of Choice album (with Whip It) on CD (if it's available) one of these days.  I probably still have it on vinyl but don't have a working turntable.

Our friend the Princess (aka Amelia Ray, who ate Thai food with you & me & Rich that day), has this hysterical tale to tell about going to a jazz club in NYC, meeting some high-churched black ladies who couldn't tell Joe Pesci from Joe Piscopo, and eventually getting hit on by a lascivious Mr. Benson.  Only she can tell it properly, of course.

I'm pretty disgusted with Taco Bell for the commercial when they use the music, effectively setting up the "he's so whipped" joke.

It's available on CD on this album (and the Greatest Hits album). It's like 7 bucks on tower.com (I thought Tower was out of business?).
