Title: RIP Sri Chinmoy

I somehow missed this last week, you'd think the Chron would've covered it, he had a big following here.

Kind of amazed that he was only 76; He was characterized as a "guru" when I was in high school and I pictured a Maharishi-type guy even then. But I guess in the early '70s he was only in his 30s!  Those were the heady days of free-form radio, and just as KSAN had the "PhamChem" report, WNEW-FM had the "morning meditation" -- 5 mins of Sri Chinmoy right after the 7am news!

All I remember of him is his name. Back in the day, I rode Muni everyday and there were an abundance of poster ads with his name. Never knoew anymore than that.

You didn't see him because he was carrying the Muni car.
