Open with the Might Zep, "Immigrant Song."
BOS, Niel.
-
BOS Southern Man
-
I love "Southern Man", but did Neil really need to go all Mandingo in the last verse?
VHM Rare Urth, er, Earth.
-
Rare Earth, the loooooonnnng version?
VHM
-
BOS Steve Miller, Going to Mexico.
-
This is a classic from '03, that's in the Db, but not archived. Well worth the effort if we can convince Urth to get it for us.
-
another BOS Van the Man
into the mystic
-
a-woman a-touch-a mah soul now.BOS Alive & Kicking & James.
BOS2 Van the Man. Saw him in Central Park that summer. -- the Byrds opened. Then Van did lots of pacing back'n'forth. Then it rained, and we left.
-
BOS3 Beatles (yay), "I Me Mine".
-
BOS4 Kinks! Victoria -- what a queen!
-
BOS Beatles & Kinks. When was the last time anyone heard "I, Me, Mine"?
-

-
When was the last time anyone heard "I, Me, Mine"?
indeed, one of the least-played Beatle tracks. Isn't it one of Gaz's least-favorite as well?

Speaking of Beatles, I saw "Across the Universe" the other day and was mostly very disappointed... didn't work for me much at all.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen it and has comments?

see my screed in the Movie Thread. I thought it was horrendously bad.

A bunch of songs in this set appear in theme sets more than in 1970: Green Eyed Lady & Into The Mystic in St. Pat's sets, Tyrone Davis in Time sets.

Tyrone Davis -- not to be confused with Tyrone Shoelaces!

Thanks, excellent review. I'm glad you're of a "like opinion".
I found the Movie Thread, after a bit of 10@10 searching, and being a big movie fan I'm planning to check out this site a bit more thoroughly when I have time.
Definitely agreed with your review, including the high points, although I would add the hospital scene with multiple Salma Hayaks to my *very* short list of scenes which I enjoyed. And yes the stage-like set pieces were ok and reminded me that Julie Taymor actually *does* have talent, although that wasn't obvious from this film...

I loved the Simpsons parody of her Lion King stage production, "The Itchy & Scratchy Musical". Genius.
-
Way cool bonus: Band of Gypsys, "Them Changes." Would have preferred "Machine Gun," but you can't have everything.

BOS Beatles & Kinks. When was the last time anyone heard "I, Me, Mine"?
About two hours ago. TANC: this came up on my fake iPod on my way to work ~ 12:50.

Not at all - that would be "For You Blue."

I always confuse the two.

that would be the fPod? Guy I work with just got the iPod touch. Wow. I played with it yesterday and it was amazing. You make an up and down motion on it, like an expand motion and the text gets larger. Very cool stuff. I'm not rushing out to get one but wow.

So, Rod, how has your nano worked out? I just saw one for the first time in the flesh (well, plastic) on Tuesday, and it seemed like a mind-blowing combination of tiny with video. Very ethereal indeed.

Um, yes he did. At least I think so.

Alas, not to be. Didn't get home last night til the set was just ending, and when I turned on the radio this am, caught the end of Victoria. Oh well. If it was a classic once, it'll likely be a classic again.
