I'm home sick -- just got up. And I thought "'84 on a Monday -- how Katrina-laden will this be?" And lo, WOS Yes. "Leave It" indeed.
Ironically, if I were at work I'd be in a 10:00 meeting and I'd be missing this.

Hope you feel better, bub. I've had a nagging cold for about 10 days, so I can empathize.
At least "Crumblin' Down" is a relative rarity. VHM for this & "My City Was Gone". And "Go", which may be the least explicable Morey favorites.

BOS JCM, tumblin' 'n' crumblin, but another "oh god not this again" to 'Trinas on Tail. ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya feh.
-
WOS2 Genesis/Phil.
-
"It's Gonna Get Better."
Yeah, right. WOS Genesis.
-
BOS for a flock of Talk Talk.
-
WOS2 Genesis/Phil.
"cause you know
and I know
it's time for..."
a bustout.
ANY bustout.
And Talk Talk ain't it.

But think about it a sec. Why the hell does Dave play this? I loved this song when it came out & thus it is on a mix tape or two that I have to this day, and I can guarantee you Dave (nor anyone else except maybe Rob) gives ANY other tune from those mixes more than 'blue moon' frequency. I find it nearly impossible to believe that Dave can love Tones On Tail without giving due respect to at least 10 other acts and 20 other songs that I include with them . . . but he really doesn't.

If only we could hear some quotes from Buckaroo Banzai...all would be forgiven.

HM to "Blue Jean," which I haven't heard in a while. People would still speaking glowingly of this song had it appeared on Diamond Dogs (where it would have fit in just fine).
-
Jazzin' for MondeJean:
"She got a Polish back
She got turned-up nose"
This is so by-the-numbers, it's an insult to numbers.

In-doob-it-a-bly!
Couldn't agree more, Dave's '80s blind spots are THE biggest mystery/frustration in all of 10@10-dom.
VHM REM, but really...

You asked for it!!!
(forgive me)
Buckaroo Banzai: "Hey, hey, hey. Don't be mean. We don't have to be mean because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are."
Perfect Tommy: "Pictures don't lie."
Reno: "The hell they don't. I met my first wife that way."
Perfect Tommy: "Emilio Lizardo... Wasn't he on TV once?"
Buckaroo Banzai: "You're thinking of Mr. Wizard."
Reno: "Emilio Lizardo is a top scientist, dummkopf."
Perfect Tommy: "So was Mr. Wizard."
Lord John Whorfin: "Sealed with a curse as sharp as a knife. Doomed is your soul and damned is your life."
Buckaroo Banzai: "Have you ever thought about joining me full time?"
New Jersey: "Do you have an opening?"
Buckaroo Banzai: "Uh huh. Can you sing?"
New Jersey: "No... No. I can dance."
Perfect Tommy: "Be cool. She'll hold."
Mission Control: "Buckaroo, The White House wants to know is everything ok with the alien space craft from Planet 10 or should we just go ahead and destroy Russia?"
Buckaroo Banzai: "Tell him yes on one and no on two."
Mission Control: "Which one was yes, go ahead and destroy Russia... or number 2?"

as long as my quote search is open...
Otto: "Don't call me stupid!"
Wanda: "To call you stupid would be an insult to STUPID people. I've known sheep who could outwit you. I've worn dresses with higher IQs, but you think you're an intellectual, don't you, ape?"
Otto: "Apes don't read philosophy."
Wanda: "Yes they do, Otto, they just don't understand it."

BOS Drive (though I have to admit that I really liked hearing Leave It on headphones).
-
just when you thought we couldn't sink any lower... the Cars "Drive" on in.

That was more of an anti-Cars comment than against the song itself, which I actually liked once upon a time.
I predict this will be the last set in Saturday's marathon... and that Dave will say "saved the best for last" or somesuch.

We welcome opposing views here!
As my dad always said: "de gustibus non disputandum est"
[of matters of taste there can be no argument]

SF Guy will agree with you if he stops by. These are his golden years. :)

Actually Drive is kind of a guilty pleasure for me, although I readily concede that its similarity to 10cc's I'm Not In Love is at least partly responsible for my fondness. But I still didn't vote it BOS. REM got my vote there.

Bonus Track:
Annalisa let the Foghead choose between
Bruce Cockburn "If I Had A Rocket Launcher"
Joe Jackson "Be My Number Two" (which he chose because he'd won KFOG tix to see JJ at a Concert For Kids back in the day)
and the 3rd choice was The The "This Is The Day".
OMG, give her credit for even thinking of The The, much les mentioning them on air. Great song, too!

This actually one Cars song I don't like. Way too soft for me.
